Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you install a pan bar on the left side?

A: No, the Sachtler Ace Fluid Head with 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod & On-Ground Spreader does not have a pan bar mount on both sides of the fluid head.

Q: 2. What is the size of the half-ball do I need to purchased for this type of tripod?

A: This is a 100mm bowl tripod. You would need to purchase a half ball like the Benro 100HB 100mm Half Ball Adapter, BH #BEBL100. https://bhpho.to/2kVsdwi

Q: 3. Will the Miller Compass 12 fluid head work with this tripod?

A: It depends on the tie down. You need the one with the smaller diameter, otherwise it won´t work

Q: 4. I purchased my Ace trips for my new sony camcorder and love it. I would also like to use this tripod with my Canon 7d for both still and video applications. What accessories would you recommend to properly mount the 7D to this tripod head?

A: The Ace tripod system is excellent for the 7D in most any video configuration you wish. You can start out by just mounting the 7D directly on the tripod with the included quick release. If you progress in video, you will find you will want a cage to hold accessories, such as a mic, a light, a mic receiver, etc, etc. Then you may wish to go hand held. There are dozens of firms making such handheld 15mm shoulder DSLR rigs. Zacuto, Redrock, SHAPE, Genus, ikan are just some of the good quality ones. The trick comes with wanting to do stills with this tripod as well. Using a video head for stills is very limiting mostly because of not being able to go vertical. Other disadvantages are the pan handle gets in the way, and fast framing is impossible because the fluid, while great when shooting video, slows you down lining up still shots. Generally, in the long run, a still photo tripod is preferred. However, to economize, the answer is to remove the video head and put a still photo ball head in its place. Do so by adding a 75mm ball to flat adapter like the one from E-image seen attached. Then mount a still photo tripod head such as the Giottos to the flat base. This should work pretty well.

Q: 5. Will these legs fit inside a Pelican Air 615?

A: Yes, the Acebil T1002CG Carbon Fiber Tripod with 100mm Bowl and Ground-Level Spreader will barely fit in the Pelican 1615 Air Case (Black, 70.5L) with no foam or inserts.

Q: 6. Will this tripod work with the Sachtler Ace fluid head, that I think is 75mm also?

A: Yes, and they're currently selling it as a bundle for 11% off.

Q: 7. is there another spreader I could use with this tripod to go lower, other than the one included?

A: There is a floor spreader model as well as this mid-level one seen here. Acebil T1002G Tripod Legs (100mm Bowl) B&H # ACT1002G. However, to get as low as possible with this tripod, you would have to remove whatever spreader it has. The lowest possible set up would come with a smaller tripod or a hi-hat. E-Image Hi-Hat with 75/100mm Bowl B&H # EI7500 is one possibility.

Q: 8. Min height is 25" or 17"? It says both. Then again for some reason the Carbon version says its 17" too.

A: The height range of this tripod is 25.2 to 58.3 inches.

Q: 9. the description here says a 33lb max load, but the description for this head has a max load of less than 18 lbs. is the max load of this head less than 18lbs?

A: Yes that is correct. While the legs of the miliboo MTT609A will support 33lbs the head on this model will only support 17lb payloads safely.

Q: 10. Does it fit in a pelican air case?

A: For the tripod legs, the Pelican 1615AirTP Wheeled Check-In Case with TrekPak Insert (Black) BH #PE1615ACTPBK • MFR #016150-0050-110 can be looked into. https://bhpho.to/3956Vkf There are as well dedicated tripod hard cases for tripod systems which can be viewed here. https://bhpho.to/34THZst
