A: For the boom to be properly balanced, you'll need a sand bag on the hook. When you combine the weight of the sand bag, the boom, and your lighting equipment, you will far exceed the working limit of 20lbs on the 1004BAC. Without the sand bag, the boom's friction setup will be stressed (if it will even hold) and it will be very difficult to work with, and in most cases, the stand would simply fall over. I would recommend using this with a heavy duty light stand.

A: No stand. I recommend a combo stand. You can go light weight with a baby stand. Obvious weight limits with the baby.
