Delivering reliable, near-lossless audio transmission over an enormous 12.4-mile range, the SES-X-FA8LTT01 Audio Fiber Extender from Sescom is an 8-channel analog audio extender that converts XLR audio input to single-mode fiber optic signals at 24-bit / 48 kHz for protection against EMI and ground loops, as well as setting up cascaded audio systems, such as broadcast setups. Four 5-pin Phoenix block connectors are utilized on the included plug-and-play transmitter and receiver units, through which an analog signal is converted to an ST fiber connection (transmitter) and then back to analog again on the receiver unit.

LEDs are featured on each unit for monitoring power and fiber link status. Each unit is housed in rugged aluminum for protection from damage or interference. This system includes two power supplies (one for each unit), a 12" four Phoenix 5-pin to two XLR female breakout adapter, a 12" four Phoenix 5-pin to two XLR male breakout adapter, and one 3.2' 9U/125U single-mode fiber optic patch cable to get you started.

Fiber optics are an ideal solution for many broadcast and radio applications or commercial sound installations such as sports stadiums or huge music venues. Optical transmissions have the advantage of resistance to EMI and the ability to support incredibly long transmission ranges with minimal signal loss, as light has no conductor to interact with, thus little to no resistance. As such, when one needs to extend an audio transmission over a great distance that exceeds a hundred feet or more, optical conversion can make it much easier to facilitate such long ranges.

Q: 1. will this pass intercom voltage through it? I'm having serious hum when connecting an RTS 2w system to a clear-com 2w system

A: No, the IL-19 does not pass voltage with audio signal. I believe what you need to use is an intercom interface which is a system-to-system adapter designed to connect two intercom systems together and eliminate issues that create grounding and signal mismatch. Perhaps the Telex SSA324 2 Channel, 2-Wire to 4-Wire Intercom System Interface Converter with Call Signal (B&H # TESSA324) may work for you since it can be used to connect 2-wire systems to 2-wire systems. This item is special order and our details are limited so here is a link to the manufacturer's product info page which also provides links to the user manual and specs: https://products.rtsintercoms.com/na/en/ssa-324/ I would also suggest that you contact tech support at RTS to be certain that the SSA324 is compatible with your RTS and Clear-Com systems. Just let them know which two systems you have so they can confirm. There is a "Contact" link on the upper right side of the RTS page that directs you to phone and live chat contacts. Please let us know if you need further assistance. You can reach B&H by phone at 800-606-6969 or through live chat on the website.

Q: 2. What's the difference between IL-19 & IL-99SS ? Which one will be good to reduce passive electric guitar hum & ground noise . Also which hum eliminator will be good for active bass guitar ?

A: Hi Nabil. Essentially, there is a slight variation in the circuitry on the IL-19-SS model versus the standard IL-19, which our engineers did in order to make the unit more closely mimic the older, metal-barreled IL-19s that Sescom made back in the 80s and 90s. Both units currently utilize an ABS plastic housing, and when the change to that housing was made, some people found that it didn’t ground as well to the chassis of older racks and cabinets as the old metal ones did, and hence the IL-19-SS was created to combat that. I would suggest the standard IL-19 first, as that tends to work for most people and most situations and I don’t think the IL-19-SS would offer any particular advantage in an active bass situation. Thank you!

Q: 3. Is there noise/interference with two sources connected?

A: The Sescom A/B switch is passive and does not use any batteries or power to function. There should not be any noise or interference when two sources are connected.

Q: 4. Sescom has a h6 cable for the zoom but it looks short would it be possible to use this instead with the same quality audio?

A: This cable does not have an attenuation pad in it, so you would not get the same quality audio. You can use a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm extension cable with the H6 cable if you need extra length.

Q: 5. Will this work with line level and mic level signals?

A: Hi Alvin.I have used it very successfully at line level. Works perfectly. However I see no reason why it would not work at mic level. Keep in mind that it is an isolating transformer, so if using microphones requiring phantom power such as condensers/electrets, phantom power being DC, the hum eliminator will block this so you will need to ensure your source of phantom power is fitted to the mic side rather than the mixer/preamp side. So if your phantom power is supplied by the mixer/preamp you will then require a separate phantom power supply. If using dynamic mic's or if otherwise phantom power is not required, this is not an issue and the you will be good to go. Hope this helps. Frank

Q: 6. Will this device transform isolation between balanced line output and unbalanced input?

A: Yes. In addition to reducing hum and noise, the Sescom IL-19-SS In-Line Audio Hum Eliminator will provide transformer isolation between a balanced line level output and an unbalanced line level input.

Q: 7. Is there a way to reverse the connections? One male xlr to Two female xlr?

A: Using these gender changer/turn-around adapters will make this Y adapter work for you: QTY: 1 - Neutrik XLR Male to XLR Male Adapter - B&H # NENA3MM a href= http://bhpho.to/1AUy9Ga target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1AUy9Ga/aQTY: 2 - Neutrik XLR Female to XLR Female Adapter - B&H # NENA3FF a href= http://bhpho.to/1EWoJv0 target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1EWoJv0/a

Q: 8. Someone know how is this product wired ? Hot in pin 2 or 3 ?I work in Europe and I wonder if I can use this product without phase issue... Thanks !

A: This product maintains phase: pin 1:1, pin 2:2, and pin 3:3, coupled through a special high end audio transformer that is of a proprietary design and has excellent frequency response.

Q: 9. I have three Shure Cardioid Boundary Condenser Mics and would like to mix them into one line which will be plugged into a computer's mic-in. Will this mixer work for my needs?

A: The Sescom 3-Input, 1-Output Passive XLR Mixer will mix and sum the signal of three microphones as desired, but because it is passive, will not supply phantom power to condenser microphones.

Q: 10. Does this have stepped or continuously variable attenuation?

A: Steeped, Great attenuator
