The basic circuit inside this is similar to the Deity Movo and Boya competitors, but this on works! Pay the extra cash for the Rode version. I tested them all. The Movo/Boya are wired wrong (ring is hot) so they won't work with Sennheiser lav mics or any others I've seen (except maybe Sony?). The XLR pins are also recessed too far so they won't lock into the recorder! My Deity unit got returned because of frying sounds at high gain. So that leaves the Rode. It adds zero noise at high gain (compared to the native plugin-power input on a MixPre-6) and there were no obvious RFI issues. 5

This product allows you to use a headset mic (plug in power, 3-5V), with a product that provides phantom power (48V) for mics. Using my headset for chat on my PC, always felt weird because I couldn't hear my own voice, so it's hard to judge how loud you are talking or if you're breathing is getting picked up, etc... Making windows provide the feedback introduces too much lag and makes me go insane. Using a USB interface like the focusrite 2i2 and the VXLR+, allows all the flexibility that I want, and improved my noise level by 10dB to boot!! Love it! 5

Well made, and lets me use the XLR inputs on the H6 with phantom power set at 12 volts, with my Giant Squid Audio cheap but very good lavalier mics.� They hold the mic plug and the XLR sockets firmly, and I don't worry about them coming loose. 5

I purchased this along with the Rode Rodelink Lav microphone. The thread-lock on the 3.5mm connector of the lav fits perfectly with connector on the Rode VXLR+. This allows me to belt-clip (included) the converter to the talent and run an XLR mic cable back to the mixer with phantom power when needed in place of connecting the lav to a bodypack for wireless use. It also works with the non-locking 3.5mm connector of the Rode Lavalier Go mic but this combination gives more assurance that the mic's connector won't pull out of the adapter. 5
