This is a lens that is an essential part of any travel photographers kit.Used carefully it can produce magnificent pictures with spectacular effect. This is the third fisheye I have owned and is pin sharp with superb contrast.It is a lens that is hard to fault apart from the slight focusing noise and it's occasional tendancy to hunt for focus.

Quick AF, but noisy. Expensive for a lens that only gets used occasionally, but some really fun results. I wish it were a little wider, but on a 1.6X body, I knew what I was getting. Nice color, light and easy to carry. No filter able to be placed and I'm constantly losing the lens cap. 2.8 is nice and sharp.

That's my first really wide glass that i bought along with d5 body... i did not have idea that so wide coverage is possible I shoot mostly sports so the lens is just great for full view of the venue.. it also works fantastic in tight corners, corridors etc where you can get really unusual frame ... of course you gotta get used to fish eye distortion... well sth for sth...

This is a great lens for landscapes. It has been great.

Never used a fisheye before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it is flawless. A really fun lens to use. You can stand in front of a very large object, get the whole thing in the picture, plus whatever else and it is all very sharp. The field of view is incredible. We have been using it for close-ups as well and it does a good job. Mainly we use it for landscape and even star trails with good success. It's not an everyday lens, but it helps you be more creative! Very sharp, great color.

So, first let me say that what I don't like about the glass is the dam lens hood. It falls off so easily and that my friend can lead to possible scratch on the lens. However, exepct for the above, I love this lens. I mostly use it for landscape and for taking pics of buildings in NYC. The distortion is there, this can give a great effect if you are looking for it or you can look through your viewfinder and aim above the horizon for no distortion. Very fast at 2.8. Very Sharp. Great lens. Very solid piece of glass. I have a lot of fun with it. I highly recommend it only if you intend to use it for special projects. It is not an everyday lens.

Naturally there's no way to protect the front element of this lens with a filter, so it's important to be able to keep the lens cap on when it's stored. I'd read that the cap falling off was an issue. When I got my copy of this lens I found that the cap fit tightly, but that it might fall off when wriggling around in my bag, so I put a couple of inch strip of gaffer's tape inside the outer rim of the cap. Now it's snug. Want it tighter? Add more tape. I don't expect to use this lens often, just as a bit of an accent once in a while, especially on jobs which involve a lot of somewhat similar photos. I'm really looking forward to having a couple of fisheye shots in with this year's grape harvest photos. I wouldn't be without this lens if I were a wedding photographer! Aside from its fast aperture and fun house perspective, this lens is also lightweight and compact. I can add it to my bag where no other lens would fit.

this lens not only shoots amazingly perfect fisheye landscapes but can also focus VERY close up to objects and takes remarkably crisp images. Compared to the cheap fisheye adapters this lens is SO worth every penny.

I was looking for a lens with distortion, but clarity to the ends of the picture. You will have trouble finding a better price. Very versatile, and the fish eye effect I have been looking for. This lens will add creativity to any photo collection.
