Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This is fiber based and not resin coated, right?

A: Correct. It is a heavier than normal fiber paper that tends to move to the warmer side, responds well to different developing agents, tones well and dries relatively flat.Try a few sheets. You may like it. Great for portraits.

Q: 2. Is anyone else getting a warm/pinkish hue to the final print with this paper? Trying to find out if it was my chemical process or the actual paper.

A: I've been using this paper exclusively now for two years and haven't had that problem. The only problem I've had is that it's prone to staining (bownish) around the edges of 8 x 10's or larger if I don't wash long enough

Q: 3. Weight

A: This paper would be 255 gsm

Q: 4. Is this paper available graded?

A: Unfortunately, this paper is not available graded.

Q: 5. Is anyone else getting inconsistent development on the surface of this paper?

A: There have been no reports of inconsistent development when using this paper and the proper chemistry.

Q: 6. I have 3/4 of an 8x10 box left that I purchased 5 years ago an d has been stored at room temp. Do you think it's still good? I

A: Ilford Multigrade Art 300 Paper (8 x 10", 50 Sheets) might still be okay. But it can loose sensitively and can fog over time. The best is to try it and see the results.

Q: 7. What's the life of the images printed?

A: Unfortunately there isn't a specific answer, it depends on how the prints are stored, humidity, light and other factors. But in optimal conditions it would last for years.

Q: 8. I'm torn between getting Adox MCC 112 and the Ilford multigrade FB, semi-matte. Which would you suggest?

A: Hi Amanda. I've used both the Adox and Ilford matt. Paper's always a personal matter. But I find I can get a broader range of tones from the Ilford. Also I love the color of the Ilford matt blacks & whites. Warm but deep. I find the Adox to be equally sharp, but a different shade of warm...tending a little more toward pinkish. Not a bad look, but I prefer the ilford. I develop in Tetenal Eukobrom and if I want to cool down the black tones, I add about 5ml of Moersch Finisher Blue to a 1000ml solution of Eukobrom. Hope this helps. They're both good papers, but I prefer the feel and tonal range of the Ilford.

Q: 9. Is this unopened sealed in original box?

A: Yes, 100% all items at BH are brand new sealed in box with original warranty unless purchased from our used dept.

Q: 10. Is this paper and the photos printed on it archival?

A: To some degree, but to make any fiber bond print truly archival, you need to use the recommended dilution and recommended time in the tray for the brand of rapid selenium toner you have.Use proper ventilation and gloves when handling selenium toner. It gives me migraines even with minimal dilution. Use a surgical mask over your nose and mouth particularly if you have asthma or are chemically sensitive. Art Paper is fun to use, but do watch your selenium timer closely! This paper will give purplish, chocolate brown to reddish shifts the longer you leave it in. Hope that helps.
