Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this speedboost the lens or its a regular adapter?

A: The Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter is not a speed booster adapter.

Q: 2. How many stops is the filter range?

A: The filter's wheel will cut light from 1 to 9 stops, or an optical density of .3 to 2.7. It is not know at this time (11/20/2018) if this filter will also work in lenses that have a similar drop in filter such as the 200-400/4/1.4x lens. An answer to this should be available in January.

Q: 3. For this price does it come with the extender and the ND filter?

A: Yes. The price of $399 (dec 4th) is with the filter. Note: "Style: With Drop-In Neutral Density Filter"

Q: 4. Do they make something like this that doesn't change the lens mount? Basically RF to RF, but allows me to have VND behind lens

A: No, lens adapters are made to connect different mounts. Unfortunately there are no adapters to just enable back VND filters on your RF cameras with their native lenses. Other brands make snap ND filters for the Canon RF camera mount, however they are fixed stops.

Q: 5. Will the IS on EF lenses work with this adaptor?

A: As the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter does have electronic contacts to maintain electronic communication between the camera and lens, it should still maintain autofocus and image stabilization communication capabilities when used with Canon EOS R-series mirrorless digital cameras.

Q: 6. Will canon r5 control ring and drop in nd filter adapter work together on eos r5c

A: No, it will not. If you plan to connect a Canon EF-mount lens onto the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera, you may use either the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter on your EF-mount lens or you may use the Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R on your EF-mount lens, but you cannot use both on the lens at the same time.

Q: 7. Can these stack? Also, can these go over the wide angle lens?

A: No, the DJI Magnetic ND Filters Set for Osmo Pocket 3 is not stackable. These filters also cannot be used with the wide angle lens.

Q: 8. Can we change lenses without removing the adapter? In other words can the adapter stay in the camera when change lens?

A: Yes, the lens can be removed from the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter without removing the adapter form the camera.

Q: 9. Does the VND filter have any polarizing effects on the light entering the camera?

A: There have been no reports of a polarizing effect with this variable ND filter installed into the adapter.

Q: 10. Would this adapter fit onto an RF Teleconverter extender? So rf camera - extender - adapter - ef lens? Thanks!

A: The RF teleconverters do not fit into the EF-RF adapters, so that order would not be possible.
