First of I got this on time. Installation was easy, however, I like Sony to print more details of the assembly. After connecting to my Sony HXR-NX80, tested the mic in several environments and it worked fine. There is a big difference between the internal mic and this. It adds up to the capabilities of the setup of the camera. 5

The SONY ECM-VG1 is an excellent microphone. The quality is far better than some of the more expensive other brands. I used it in a wedding shoot this past weekend and it far exceeded my expectations. 5

I bought this mic after being recommended by B&H live chat. For the price point that this mic is at, I was expecting something mediocre. It turns out that I really like the audio quality. The design is very intelligent and shows me that Sony knows what they are dong and they have experience with making diamonds. The XLR cable that comes in the box is light weight. The mic is light weight. They provide an excellent wind screen. It fits well on my Sony PXWX 70 camcorder. I would even use this as a boom mic for short film work. I think that Sony is under rated and that if put to the test, it may even be better than some of the Sennheiser and Rode mics. My advice is for you to try it for yourself. It is an electret mic, so keep it away from condensation and water. 5
