Compatible with lenses with 72mm filter threads, this Variable ND2-ND32 Filter from Neewer features a built-in, rotating ring that controls neutral density ranging from 1-5 stops. The variable ND2-ND32 filter allows you to add a sense of movement to an image such as capturing the blur of the rippling water of a waterfall or light trails by affording more control over your shutter speed. With its 9.5mm thickness, this filter also avoids possible vignetting on wide-angle lenses. Constructed with optical glass and an aluminum frame, this lightweight filter's design also has 30 layers of double-sided nano coatings for an anti-oil, anti-dust, anti-scratch, and water-repellent surface that can keep your lens safe.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you buy this adapter and later change out just the filter to like a UV filter or Polarized filter? Or do you have to buy and completely new adapter if you want to use it with Polarized filter?

A: The Canon Drop-In Clear Filter A, B&H # CADICFA, the Canon Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter A, B&H # CADICPFA, and the Canon Drop-In Variable ND Filter A (1.5-9 Stop), B&H # CADIVNDFA, would all be available as separate purchasable accessories compatible for use with the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter.

Q: 2. Will other brand EF lenses with autofocus continue to work with this adapter?

A: All EF lenses with autofocus Will work same way as on an SLR. The adapter only compensates for the shorter flange distance of the mirrorless body. in addition the filter slot makes easy to use one drop-in filter for every lens no matter the size of the front lens thread.

Q: 3. Does this include, or even support, the tripod "foot" (that comes with the $164 version, but not the $99 version)?

A: No.

Q: 4. I am more concerning the image quality and autofocus speed when using this variable ND filter. Does it degrade the image quality or add othe color tone(s) or hue(s) to the captured image? Does it slow down the autofocus speed at all?

A: It works well , The darker the ND the slower the focus usually it gets , but in Mirrorless Digital Camera its not as bad , and it does not have a color shift

Q: 5. Are there any astrophotography filters that fir this filter system?

A: I'm sorry, no.

Q: 6. filter itself? Is it a nano coated? Any details on color cast (blue)?

A: It is not nano coated and there is a slight blue cast on the upper range.

Q: 7. How many stops is the filter range?

A: The filter's wheel will cut light from 1 to 9 stops, or an optical density of .3 to 2.7. It is not know at this time (11/20/2018) if this filter will also work in lenses that have a similar drop in filter such as the 200-400/4/1.4x lens. An answer to this should be available in January.

Q: 8. Will the IS on EF lenses work with this adaptor?

A: As the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter does have electronic contacts to maintain electronic communication between the camera and lens, it should still maintain autofocus and image stabilization communication capabilities when used with Canon EOS R-series mirrorless digital cameras.

Q: 9. Would this adapter fit onto an RF Teleconverter extender? So rf camera - extender - adapter - ef lens? Thanks!

A: The RF teleconverters do not fit into the EF-RF adapters, so that order would not be possible.

Q: 10. Is there a version of the drop-in filter mount that adopts PL lenses to RF?

A: This Fotodiox adapter is for PL lens to Canon RF camera and it has a built in ND filter. The filter is not drop in though. There isn't a version with drop in for that combination. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1486458-REG/fotodiox_pl_eosr_ndthrtl_cine_vizelex_nd_throttle_lens.html
