Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'd like to use the 9V battery powered Rode Videomic (VIDEOMIC-R) to connect with a Zoom PodTrak P4. Will a standard VXLR converter work with that, or do I need this VXLR+ for it? Thanks!

A: With 9V battery installed, the standard VXLR converter will work.

Q: 2. Does this work with the Sennheiser MKE2 Gold EW lapel mic?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 3. Hi, Does this adapter come with the clip that goes around the middle? I don't see it on the pics...

A: From what I see on Rode's site, this does not come with any belt clip. For an adapter that does, I would recommend the Deity #DEDXLR, which also does the same job.

Q: 4. Can someone describe what is connected to each 1/8 in. connection (tip. ring, sleeve) in terms of signal, power, and ground? (This would go a long way to answering compatibility questions.) Thanks.

A: Although a specific wiring diagram is not available for the input connection on the Saramonic C-XLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter, we can confirm that this adapter is compatible with microphones using the common "Sennheiser" wiring configuration, which Saramonic lavaliers also use. This adapter is not compatible for use with microphones wired for compatibility with Sony wireless transmitters.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Tram TR50?

A: Hello Stan, I show the TR50 as a XLR connection and therefore it would not. If there is a TR50 available with a 3.5mm TRS connector then yes, this will work for you.

Q: 6. Can someone describe what is connected to each 1/8 in. connection (tip. ring, sleeve) in terms of signal, power, and ground? (This would help to answer a lot of other questions.)

A: The specific TRS input wiring schematic is not available for the Rode VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter, however we can confirm that the VXLR+ is compatible with microphones using the 3.5mm "Sennheiser" wiring configuration for compatibility. This adapter is not compatible with microphones wired for compatibility with Sony input connections.

Q: 7. Can this convert unbalanced TRS to balanced XLR?

A: This adapter will not balance the microphone signal. You can use it to connect stereo 3.5mm wired microphones to XLR inputs. This version does have a transformer balanced output: https://bhpho.to/2WQbqxK

Q: 8. Can I use this to connect the DJI Mic2 Transmitter to a Rodecaster Pro 1?

A: The RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter can work to output from a DJI Mic 2 receiver, to the XLR input on a Rodecaster Pro, together with a 3.5mm output cable. Since the power conversion is not needed for this setup, I would recommend the less costly Rode VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter instead: https://bhpho.to/42sHsNK . Depending on the situation, especially if wireless is not needed, you may also want to consider other microphone options. Please reach out to us for help choosing one that meets your specific requirements.

Q: 9. Can this allow me to use a RODE videomicGO on a SONY HXR-NX100? The Sony only has XLR inputs.

A: It should. I use it on all my cameras that have XLR inputs and it works great.

Q: 10. Does this work with the Deity D3 pro microphone ?

A: No. Because the D3 is self powered you can use the regular VXLR https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html

I Use this to attache Mic on a boom arm to DSLR. It allows me to get into a space with a subject while being at a larger distance while still capturing that great sound.WOrks great with no reduction in sound quality.

I buy those to use with my Sony MDR7506 and its very good. I didn't noticed any sound quality loss when im using this. By the way, i just bought another to use with my ATH M-50, because i like to walk in my room listening to music and doing stuff, playing guitar or the piano. This definitely worth the price!
