Add ultra-lightweight protection and a variety of accessories to your Sony a7S III mirrorless camera with this Standard Cage Kit from SmallRig. The kit includes a lightweight, formfitting magnesium-aluminum camera cage and an HDMI cable clamp.

The camera mounts onto the cage with an integrated 1/4"-20 screw, and it incorporates an anti-twist design with an M2.5 screw on the side padding on the base to protect the camera from scratching. It maintains access to the camera's controls and hot shoe, and it features a variety of mounting options. In addition to one integrated shoe mount and multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessory threads, the cage also features NATO rails on the side and integrated strap slots on either side of the cage.

The cage is made from lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy that only adds 5.5 oz to your camera rig. The HDMI cable clamp mounts onto the cage using a 1/4"-20 screw and prevents your HDMI cable from pulls. An Allen wrench is stored on the bottom via a magnet for tightening the camera screw.

A: Practically any Arca Swiss Plate fits underneath this cage. This camera cage does not come with an Arca-Swiss Style Bottom Plate.

Q: 3. The outer black layer of my cage is chipping in areas, is this normal?

A: Yes. Wear and tear is very normal.

Q: 4. Will this cage work with the Metabones adapter for EF mount lenses?

A: Yes a Metabones adapter would work fine when connecting an EF mount lens to the Sony A7S III on the Smallrig Camera Cage for Sony A7S III. There is clearance on the cage that is acceptable for just about any lens or adapter.

Q: 5. This looks like it could fit the A1 as well, since the top-left bar is so far forward (avoiding obstructing access to the drive mode dial)?

A: There is not a lens adapter support available for the SmallRig A7S III Cage.

Q: 8. Is the wooden hand grip both right and left mountable?

A: According to manufacturer specifications (as we have yet to receive the product in stock as of this writing), the hand grip may be mounted as either, right or left.

Q: 9. is this compatible with the a7iii?

A: Manufacturer explicitly defines compatibility to be exclusive to the Sony a7S III mirrorless camera.

Q: 10. Will this also fit A7III/A7RIII? - It looks like there is clearance on all the doors and the face isn't significantly changed model to model.

A: This is designed specifically for the A7SIII. It may work with past models, but we do not recommend it. For the A7III/A7RIII you would want to look at BH #SMCCS2645 instead.

This camera is so sharp at 1080p compared to the a7iii and can do 4k 60fps which is amazing. It is every videographer's dream camera! 5

I absolutely love this camera! Especially for video. But it does a great job at photos too. I don't find the 12 mp too limiting, but I don't do commercial work. I do miss being able to crop way in like I could on my A7r3. 5

Improves on pretty much everything from the previous A7S2 model. Sony really knocked it out of the park. A pleasure to shoot with, finally easier to use with LOG footage, much better battery life, massively improved autofocus, better menus, better flip out screen, etc. etc. Great camera! 5

I had a pre-order for the A1 but I decided to cancel it since I already own the A9 II and A7RIII. I sold my video camera and decided to get this. I was NOT disappointed. This is the best hybrid video/stills camera I've had. The still photographs are enough to print and even then I can use Topaz on them to enlarge to larger size. The ISO performance is out of this world and with steadyshot active mode on, it works basically like my old AX700 does for video. I love it. If I had the money, I would buy a second one. 5

..... and then some. I love this camera. I starting shooting in S-LOG3 and, while it was a learning curve, I have captured some really beautiful clips. I heard all of these horror stories about the menu system but found it to be just fine. That said, I'm used to Sony menus - the A99 and A99II were my first full frame interchangeable lens cameras and I still have them and love them. I'll probably use the A7SIII mostly for video although for time-lapse it might also be great - there is probably no need for more than 12MP for time lapse. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with this camera and I expect to get better as time goes on. 5
