I'm giving this lens 5 stars. It's not perfect but the image quality is really good and the price was right. I have a 7D and a 5D and I ordered the Canon 24-105mm so I could move up to an L lens. When I got the 24-105mm I tested it out on both Canon bodies. To my surprise the 18-135mm stood up quite well to the 24-105mm on the 7D and showed only marginal improvement but not enough to justify the cost difference in the two lenses. However, when comparing the 24-105 on the 5D against the 18-135mm on the 7D the 5D combo excelled. If you are familiar with the specs on the two cameras then you know why. Moral of the story: If you have a 7D and you are lusting after a 24-105mm, get the 18-135mm.

As a wedding photographer, I have played with a few lenses over the last 5 years. This is one of the best lenses (for the money) I'm a tought critic. Of course if you spend 3 times the amount, a fixed apature lens is the way to go. I think for any amature and for most professionals, this lens is unbeatable. This lens is perfect as a second camera lens durimg events. I can leave it on my t3i all day for many types of shots and it really looks amazing with my 5d markIII. I am Impressed with how wide this lens can capture images and in bright light, the zoom is pretty amazing. Indoors , without multiple flashes, it can be pretty dark. I only use manual focus, so I can not comment on auto focus speed.

I sold my 24-105 to have the sensor replaced in my 7D. I bought the 18-135mm with IS to replace it. I use my 7D for shooting commercial video and was concerned with how the 18-135 would perform. After using it for second camera on a wedding, I am very pleased with the performance and quality of the captured video. The footage was sharp, color was excellent and the focus was faster than anticipated. It performed very well as the evening light dropped during the last part of the wedding. I anticipate photos taken with this lens will leave me just as pleased.

I have used this lens every day since it arrived on my doorstep Oct. 15th. I especially like to shoot low light, no flash and while it's max. f/stop is 3.5 it still gives me great results with its 18mm wide angle. I've also used it to shoot an art installment at a well known gallery in K.C. Mo. The pieces were white glossy ceramic,in low light which proved to be a manageable challenge with this versitile 18-135mm range. It was my first gallery shoot, very exciting and won't be my last. I know there are better more expensive lens available but for now this lens makes me more competetive and gets my foot in the door. Today we went on a hike through the rugged hills of Weston, MO. for landscapes. I had absolutely no problems with it's construction. Believe me, I put it through some abuse on rocky, woody, and brushy terrain. This lens is my best friend.

This lens (EF-S 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS) came with my 60D, which I purchased about 3 1/2 years ago. It has been a very good lens, granted, it's not L series quality, but for a kit lens, it does very well. I've had many very good photos, the samples, are 2 of my favorites. I used manual settings, ( f/5, 1/1250 sec, ISO-400, 18mm, on a sturdy tripod, on 2 second shutter delay ) was taken at Jenny Lake, Grand Teton National Park, May 22, 2014. The 2nd sample, ( f/5, 1 second, ISO-100, 55mm, on a sturdy tripod, on 2 second shutter delay ), is of Gibbon Falls, Yellowstone National Park, September 25, 2012. I don't consider these pro quality, however for mid range amateur photography, this lens takes very good photos.
