as pro studio filmaker, i use a lot of magic arm. i used to buy the manfrotto but they became realy poor quality...and i find those the matthew seams to be realy strong realy well finish i wait about a year before wroting something about it to realy test them! of course i recomand those in stead of the manfrotto.

I've tried other articulating arms but I only trust the Matthews brand with my expensive gear. These are very versatile and can hold lights and cameras in positions I cannot get my body into. Spend a little extra and get these, this is my second one. The first one is over 5 years old and still going strong.

The Cine Arm is really well made and locks my on-camera monitor securely to the desired position. The Cine Lock kit saves a lot of time from having to hassle with assembly. It's definitely worth the price.

I've gone through many magic arms for mounting EVF, Monitors, sound devices, on-camera lights. The Noga arms are still by far the most solid and flexible. Although they tend to be a little heavier than some of the other magic arms, they are still my first choice for flexibly mounting devices to my rigs. Make sure you choose the right length for your needs!

This thing is tiny and works great in a tight space. No ratcheting handle to get in the way.

The headline might overstate it but the articulating arm is certainly more versatile and more portable than a C stand. I have a Tether Tools version and the Matthews NOGA version. Each has their place, but if I had to choose, I'd pick this Matthews arm. It's well made and will last for many years.
