The precise and fluid Core 75 Leveler cp Classic with Screw Knob Lock from Arca-Swiss is equipped with a double-dovetail clamp that is compatible with Arca-Swiss Classic plates, monoballFix plates, and Arca-Swiss monorail cameras. The clamp easily locks down by turning the classic screw-knob mechanism. The head works on arc movements that keep your camera centered over your tripod, so you never lose your center of axis. Each X and Y axis has +/-15° of micrometric adjustment, which is controlled by two geared telescopic knobs, which pull out if you are using a larger camera and can't reach the knobs. The head has 360° panning on both the top and bottom base, and the top pan has a scale for a repeated setup or for measuring intervals when creating a panoramic shot. The Core 75 can hold camera equipment weighing up to 66 lb, and with each movement you make, there is no need to lock a knob because of its self-locking gear.

Q: 8. Can I swap out the clamp with a different clamp if i want?

A: You can remove the clamp from the Arca-Swiss C1 Cube cp Geared Head with ClickPan and Arca Classic Quick Release and use a different clamp, but it is a DIY process. There isn't an off the shelf clamp that says it is compatible. The exact screw that you would need is unknown and not disclosed by the manufacturer. You would have to try different screw sizes depending on the clamp. Unfortunately, there isn't an off the shelf screw and clamp that we can link to you and say that it is 100% compatible.

I'm primarily a landscape photographer and like to set my cameras with tight precision. Want the frame to be just past that tree on the left and just above that bush on the bottom and so on. I found that the ball head that goes with the very nice traveling tripod I have, just wasn't precise enough. Just drifts down as it settles after tightening. So I moved on to a $200 or so gear head to see what that was like. Big improvement, but still could drift a little. Also the large movement while effective was a bit jerky. With that experience it was time to graduate to a high end head. I looked at some $400 range gear heads - better, but big and I found awkward to use. I tried several high end ball heads (Arca Swiss Z, KIrk BH1) and liked them very much. When tension is set right these are wonderful to use. Still they are not as precise as a gear head. Looked at the Arca Swiss Cube - which is very precise, but slow for landscape work. Then I found the D4-- this is an amazing combination of ball head and gear head. The ball head movements and pans allow one to quickly move into rough position, followed by incredibly smooth gear movements for absolute precision. It's really an incredible feat of engineering. The double pan is quite nice too. Last it actually takes up the same or less space than the high end ball heads, and less space than the $400 gear heads. I'm using it on the traveler tripod and a somewhat larger tripod I've added for more stability and long legs for uneven terrain. This is a high priced head, but worth every penny. 5
