The boom extends to 49.2" and features a reversible 5/8" baby pin stud with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded screws for mounting light fixtures or grip gear.

The boom's extension range is controlled by a knuckle, and a single locking lever allows you to adjust and lock the angle of the boom, which has a 180° range, so you can collapse it flat against the wall when not in use. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I want to use the MV7 with the Zoom H6 would I need a cloudlifter?

A: A Cloudlifter is recommended, as this Mic has low sensitivity and requires a lot of gain, which may increase noise. It does depend on the Mic Pre; see below. At a sensitivity of -55 dBv, the Shure MV7 would require 55dB of gain to achieve the same level as what is "heard" by MV7 diaphram. As an example, a Focusrite Solo has Mic Pre gain of: "Up to" +56 dB this means the Mic Pre Gain would have to be fully cranked to achieve unity gain. Please note that the higher the negative dBV, the lower the sensitivity. That is, a mic with a sensitivity of -56dBV is less sensitive than a mic with a sensitivity of -38dBV, but more sensitive than a mic with a sensitivity of -65dBV. A more logical way to look at it is to think about how much gain will be required to amplify the test signal up to a level of one volt (One Volt is the "Unity Gain" number), the level as supplied "Into" the microphone.

Q: 2. What are the benefits of connecting it via XLR (to an audio interface) vs connecting it to the computer via USB?

A: Using the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone's XLR output connection allows for customizing your signal chain for use with an interface of your choice and a clean recording of the microphone's audio signal. The advantage of the USB connection is the elimination of an external interface and direct connection to a computer for recording.

Q: 3. Can you use the Blue arm with this mic?

A: Yes. There is a Blue arm shown as an accessory for this mic: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1593379-REG/shure_mv7_k_mv7_mic.html/accessories

Q: 4. Does this come with a tripod?

A: The Shure MV7 microphone does not come with a tripod.

Q: 5. Can this be used with a roll that is 107" wide?

A: Yes, the Neewer Roller Wall Mounting Manual Background Support System can be used with a 107" roll.

Q: 6. Hey there! We wanted to install this on our ceiling, but I'm not sure how it mounts. Is there a hook system or some such thing?

A: The Neewer Roller Wall Mounting system is made for wall install only. For more support please contact our live chat team.

Q: 7. What mounting hardware does this come with? I'm planning on mounting to a brick wall -- is the hardware sufficient?

A: The Manfrotto 098B Wall Mounting Boom Arm, Black - 47.2-82.6" (1.2-2.1m) BH #MA098B does not come with mounting hardware. You will need to get the right form of bolts or anchors depending on the wall you will mount it to.

Q: 8. Will the USB and XLR work simultaneously? For example, is it possible to use the USB and headphones for an online interview, while also recording a WAV via XLR?

A: Yes, the Shure MV7 does allow you to record audio from the USB and XLR outputs at the same time.

Q: 9. Could I attach this to an impact air cushioned light stand?

A: The Impact Air-Cushioned Light Stand would not be sturdy enough for the Neewer Microphone Boompole Mounting Adapter and Holder with a boom pole and a mic attached. It will more than likely tip over. I recommend a C-stand (like B&H # IMLSCT40M) and two or three sandbags (like B&H # IMSBFB15).

Q: 10. why is the silver one cheaper than the black?

A: Sometimes items that are available in different color finishes can be priced differently. It's possible that we may have been able to get a better deal from Shure for a large quantity of the MV7 mics in the silver finish which would be why there is a lower sale price for the silver finish compared to the sale price for the black finish. The silver and black models are identical other than the color of the finish.
