Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If you do not want the corner setup and only want the full width, how do you attach the middle section without a large gap that the bracket causes? I purchased this expecting to assemble it to look like the second product photo and use two rolls of paper side by side to create a large backdrop. This, however, does not seem possible.

A: According to the manufacturer, this stand would not be able to have two rolls of seamless placed along the full length without having a gap in the center.

Q: 2. will this stand hold the 107 roll of savage paper?

A: Yes the cross bar for this stand will extend out to 9 ft 5 inches wide which is enough to accommodate a 107 roll of seamless paper.

Q: 3. what is the diameter of the stand legs, which caster wheels will fit, impact 22mm or 25mm?

A: Wheels are not recommended for use on background support kits like the Savage Universal Background Stand BH #SAUBGS.

Q: 4. Will this work with a backdrop that is 24' wide? Or do you need two 12' backdrops?

A: You could make this work with a 24' wide background but you would need to clamp it onto the bars with A-clamps because the middle stand will prevent a background with a pole pocket from passing onto the next bar.

Q: 5. Can the paper roll fit in the travel bag or does that need to be stored / carried separately?

A: The size roll I use, which is 9 feet or 12 feet, is carried separate from the travel bag.

Q: 6. I just got this and it didn’t come with any manuals or paperwork, is this normal or did I get a used product?

A: This is normal , the manufacture does not include a manual on this products

Q: 7. I need to display a 35lb quilt. Will this hold or should I buy a middle support?

A: The quilt will hang much differently than a roll of seamless, which spreads it's weight over the entire roll. I would not use this stand for your quilt- the center of the crossbar will take all the weight, and the stands-if not weighted down-will fall in.

Q: 8. Can this support canvas backdrops?

A: You can use this background support with a canvas if its less than 9.5' wide.

Q: 9. How wide are the crossbar sections? Can the stand be used with one less crossbar to make the stand 20' wide instead of 24' wide?

A: According to Savage, each cross bar consists of 4 sections, totaling 12 feet. It can also be used with only three crossbar sections when 10' wide applications are needed.

Q: 10. Can the width on this be adjusted down to about 60 ?

A: Yes it can. There are a few extensions on the rod so it is very versatile.

This is a good portable background support system that I use for occasional product photography. Easy to setup by myself, and sturdy enough not to tip over.

This product was highly recommended to me by one of B&H's employees. I spoke with him, told him exactly what I was looking for (including my level of photography) and he recommended this. It's perfect. It's sturdy and very easy to set up and take down. I'm so pleased with this. Thanks B&H!!!

Does the job well. Strong and durable. Savage delivers! It's a big plus it has a telescopic crossbar so you're not restricted at 3', 6' or 9'. Holds a 9' paper roll no problem!

Savage's Port-A-Stand is easy to use and transport. For what it was designated for - a portable system - it is very sturdy. If you shoot on location and use backgrounds, this is a fantastic product - compact, easy to use, sturdy.

I used my stand for the first time two weeks ago! It was wonderful. Easy and quick to set up! The only thing I would suggest is to provide instructions with the system.

I used this stand to take Christmas pictures of the children in my daughter's pre-school class. It was easy to assemble and position. Although not impossible to set up on your own, it goes up faster with an extra set of hands. The construction was excellent. I was concerned at first that the lightweight design would result in tipping but was please to see that even with rambunctious pre-schoolers that it was steady and never once seemed wobbly or likely to fall over. The travel case provides ease of transport and the stand is reasonable in weight. I loved how easily it adjusts for the environment that I was in.

The Port A Stand is everything I was hoping it would be. It's easy to put together. I can do it by myself and I'm a small girl. Adjusts easily and is much sturdier then I was expecting. Great product, I'm glad I got it!

Reading other reviews I was a bit skeptical when I decided to purchase this kit... I'm happy to say I am very pleased with my purchase and this product! The stands are sturdy and easy to use (although one stand does stick a little bit... not a big deal). The telescoping crossbar extends/contracts easily and appears to be extremely sturdy. Roll paper is heavy... this unit is made to support wide roll paper... it's well built and suited to do so. Setting this up by yourself can be a bit tricky. As stated above, roll paper is heavy... putting the 53 roll on the crossbar then on the stands can be a challenge the first time you do it. I would not want to set this up by myself were I to use wider roll paper. Using cloth backgrounds is not a challenge. I highly recommend getting several spring clips of varying sizes... you will need these to secure the paper or cloth background. The paper wants to unroll as soon as it's on the bar (gravity and physics)... securing the roll with a clip prevents this and allows you to adjust the length of the paper. For the money you can't beat this kit!!
