Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit my 16-80 fujifilm XF lens?

A: This hood is only for the XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR.

Q: 2. is this lens too heavy for not having a tripod collar as one reviewer suggested? 1.65lbs is way more weighty than all the lenses I have.

A: Having a collar may be desirable if you have a weak tripod head but this is not generally a heavy lens. It has excellent OIS also.

Q: 3. Is it too big and heavy for my fujifilm x-t20 body?

A: FUJIFILM XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens will be front heavy on the Fuji XT20. You will probably use it by holding the lens with one hand and the camera with the other.

Q: 4. Is it good for taking photos of engagement ring with 2mm stones?

A: Yes, the FUJIFILM XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens would be excellent for photographing any engagement ring.

Q: 5. I just bought one of this lens (80mm macro). When I move it up and down something moves up and down inside. But when it focuses it stops moving. Anyone else that bought this lens have the same experience?

A: Yes the sound/thing that is moving around is the stabilization system in the camera. As soon as you press down the button which starts the focusing and metering, that's when it will engage the stabilization system. That is why is stops moving when you press to focus it.

Q: 6. Would this lens work for copying slides?

A: Yes you could place a slide on a back lit white screen and take pictures of the slide with this lens and a compatible Fuji camera.

Q: 7. What distance from lens to object is it necessary to capture an entire engagement ring?

A: The minimum focus distance of the Fujifilm XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens is 9.84" / 25 cm, and should be appropriate to fit all of an engagement ring into the shot, when used with a Fujifilm APS-C camera. You will likely need to crop the image.

Q: 8. I use a circular polarizer on my 16-55 quite a bit. Can I still spin the polarizer with the lens hood on?

A: Spinning a Circular Polarizer on a XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR with the FUJIFILM Lens Hood for XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR will be difficult.

Q: 9. I'm currently practicing macro with a short macro tube on the Fuji 18-55mm on an X-T20. I feel like I have to do a lot of stacking with the macro tube to get enough of the picture on focus. If I switched to this lens, would there be any noticeable difference in depth of field?

A: Macro lenses have shallow DOF by nature and require focus stacking as well, but the optical quality will be superior to the setup you are using now.

Q: 10. Why is there a removable part of this lens hood that's located at the base?

A: That portion of the Lens Hood for the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS is used for accessing the adjustment ring on a circular polarizer mounted to the lens.

I take a lot of pictures of insects in my garden. Lens is usually mounted on my X-T1 and yields fine resolution to my images.

I have both the 60mm and 80mm macros from Fuji. Both deliver great image quality but for most things the 80mm can't be beat.

With the 60mm I'm always stacking 11mm and 16mm extension tubes. Not so much with the 80mm with its 1:1 capability. Occasionally I'll use the 11mm tube on the 80mm.

The lens IS combined with my X-T4 IBIS makes it easy for many outdoor shots without a tripod or rails.

This is a GREAT lens!!!!

I have never done any Macro work as to speak. But so far I am feral happy with the lens. Shot some flowers, In the house, took 125 shots and stacked and came out perfect. I would recommend to any Fuji user who is going to do Macro. The lens is sharp as a tack.

I mean what else would you expect from Fuji? They’re a quality brand overall so they have to provide quality glass too! It’s a little slow at focusing, but it’s not a big deal at all! I love my lens and will be a Fuji guy for life.

Great, accurate lens. Focusing is slow and at time the lens has trouble to find the subject. When it finds it, it is accurate and results are beautiful. My findings: It is easier to take a precise picture at f11 to f22, then create the bokeh with Lightroom. The controls more accurate than going to f2.8. Everyone has to try to check the wanted results. I recommend it.

i was considering between switching to canon oe fuji lineup for my macro work and i'm glad i picked fuji. i rented some canon gear including the 100mm and i'm shocked it's more expensive than the fuji 80mm. people also said canon raised prices from $900 to $1,300. i just found canon gear to be dated with a big price tag.

the fuji 80mm is built like a rock and it is very heavy. however it handles beautifully and is very quiet (i don't even hear the stabilization balls moving anymore-though some people complained about it). image stabilization works great, and in low light images are still sharp. the images are so sharp it is incredible!! i use manual focus for macro work and it focuses so smoothly. auto focus is also very quick. plus i love the fuji colors and using xt4 i can use various film simulations when i'm feeling creative and don't want to shoot raw.

all in all i am so happy i am now a fujifilm convert.

This lens is a little heavy and does make a slight rattling noise when it's not in use (turned off) which is supposedly normal because its internal magnets are not engaged. However, it takes fabulous photos and because of its IOS it does very well hand-held. That is, no tripod needed! If you're interested in macro photography then this lens is for you. Even though I did some editing on the attached photo the detail this lens rendered is excellent. And this was a hand-held shot!

Always wanted a macro lens. Now I have one. The lens is awesome but there is one learning curve. You have to be aware of where your lens is in relation to your subject and then set the focusing switch to match that distance or you will get a red "AF!" sign in your viewfinder. Another note: the lens sounds like something is loose inside, this goes away once the camera is turned on.
