This 1- to 3-stop, 52mm Hoya Graduated ND Filter helps to specifically darken skies and other bright areas of the image. The filter has a 3-stop density at one edge and evenly tapers to a 1-stop density at the opposite edge, with a smooth gradation throughout the middle of the filter plane. The design of this filter incorporates a rotating mount to allow precise positioning of the density over a selected area of the scene for greater control in darkening the brightest areas of an image. A neutral density filter does not affect the overall coloration of an image and helps to reduce the amount of light entering the camera lens in order to enable the use of wider aperture settings or longer shutter speeds.

This filter is constructed from one wedge layer of clear optical glass that is matched and bonded to a second layer of neutral density filter glass for a smooth, even density transition that maintains high image quality. It is set within a durable rotating aluminum filter ring.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how can I tell what size screw on sense I need for my specific size lenses?

A: The thread pitches are all the same. All you need to do is make sure the diameter of the lens (usually marked on the lens with a number and a circle with a line across it) is the the same is the size filter that you want to fit on it. For example, Nikon 70-200mm have a 77mm fitting so you'll need a filter that is 77mm in size.

Q: 2. Do these filters come with a front filter thread so you can attach a CPL Filter?

A: Yes, it has a 82mm front thread.

Q: 3. HelloWould this Filter and the Hoya 52mm Alpha Circular Polarizer Filter work (Compatible) with Panasonic Lumix FZ200?Thank you.Shaun

A: The sizes of both filters are the proper size for the FZ200 and will properly fit it, however Panasonic's instruction for the manual discourages use of two filters on the camera, likely as it will become too darkened for the camera to autofocus with.

Q: 4. Is this recommended for digital cameras?

A: The Hoya 72mm Neutral Density (ND) 0.3 Hoya Multi-Coated (HMC) Glass Filter is recommended for both digital and film cameras. Hoya's Pro Digital line of filters are slimmer but still have threading on both sides of the filter. Ultra-thin filter frames help to avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses while the front threads mean they will also hold a lens cap. HMC filters feature a 3 layer multi-coating while their Pro Digital line's multi-coating is optimized for use with digital sensors.

A: These is no vignetting unless the lens is wider than 28mm. These is no noticeable edge distortion either.

The Hoya 67mm ND 0.6 filter is a must have filter for anyone shooting landscape photography. When the sun in shining bright, the filter will limit the amount of light passing through the aperture by about 2 stops, without any loss of clarity or color. It will also allow you to stop down without sacrificing shutter speed. A terrific lens with a very resonable price tag, I would strongly recommend it to my friends.

How much can you say about a neutral density filter. Quality seems good, and it does what I need. I bought 72 mm, but should have gone with 77 to use with my new lens. Oh well, hind sight. I bought a bunch of adapter rings to use the filter with all of my smaller lenses.

Not much to say- I've had excellent results with the Hoya Multi-Coated in the past so I ponied up for this nice light cutter. No disappointment. Could you get by with a cheaper model? Sure. Throw it on your kit lens and fire away- your pictures will probably look the same as mine. But since I'm using pro lenses I guess I'm just a sucker for pro filters! I saw no color casts or uneven tones with this unit when trying to blur some water.

This filter is perfect for taking long exposure time in daylight. I made some awesome pics of waterfalls with it. Image quality doesn't suffer any visible defects. A great value!

I bought this lens for my Minolta XL-401 Super 8 mm camera. The lens mounts firmly, is affordable and has clear optics.
