However, it is smaller and lighter than the comparable top of the line Nikon and Canon zooms. If you want a lighter lens, get a kit lens. If you want quality, this is the lens to get. I am principally a prime shooter, but I have a love this lens: It is fast focusing, the image stabilization is nothing short of spectacular - I can hand hold it at a 15th, and sometimes at 1/4 second, racked out to 210mm; it is sharp and contrasty, comparing in image quality to the best of the Fuji primes; it is build to last. Poor bokeh? I haven't noticed. Hissing sounds? Haven't heard them. Burns through batteries? I haven't noticed that. But, if batter consumption is an issue, turn off the IS. But who goes out shooting without extra batteries? All I can tell you is that in a week I am taking this lens to Haiti for it's third trip, and I wouldn't go without it.
