Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used with the case on the iPhone 14 pro?

A: Yes, the ShiftCam SnapPod (Midnight), B&H # SHSNAPPODMN, can be used with the case on the iPhone 14 Pro as long as the case you are using is magsafe compatible.

Q: 2. Does the SC work with Nikon SB900 speed light?

A: I use it with the SB900 without problems. Love it. Just need the Nikon cable.

Q: 3. Hi! I can used my SC with Sanyo Ni-Hm 2700

A: You can use Sanyo rechargeable AA batteries in a shoe mount flash while the Turbo SC battery is plugged into it.

Q: 4. So I just got my Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack...I bought it to aide my Canon EL-1 speedlite. Was that a mistake? I connected it to the Speedlite and it did not power on the Speedlite... I need to find out if my EL-1 Speedlite also needs to have the battery inside it, too? even though it's connected to a flash Quantum Instruments Turbo SC battery pack? Does anyone know for sue? Thanks

A: One needs to have the battery in the Canon Speedlite EL-1 in order to power it with the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack for Portable Flashes (US / Canada / Japan Plug). The internal battery is always needed to control the Speedlite. One can then set in the custom setting what power source is used to charge the flash head for firing.

Q: 5. Is the Quantum Turbo SC Battery Pack approved by IATA for air transport?

A: While I do not see IATA approval for specific batteries, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries are allowed both in carry-on baggage in the aircraft cabin and in checked baggage. The batteries must be protected from damage and short circuit or installed in a device. As such, yes, the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack is compatible for air transport on airline planes, both in carry-on luggage and checked luggage.

Q: 6. I understand you still need to have batteries inside the flash (at least with Nikon flashes)so how much is the life of the internal batteries extended by also using an external battery such as the Quantum Turbo SC? And when the internal batteries are dead, the flash stops working, right?

A: I shoot weddings with Canon cameras and speedlites. Without the Turbo I would go thru a lot of AA batteries. I now use only two sets of 4-AA batteries -- I change them when I notice that recycle time is reduced.

Q: 7. I use the Quantum power pack with Canon's 580II speedlight, which has a function for external power that I set: C12=1. I use 4 Eneloop AA batteries. When I use the camera with speedlite as far as I can tell all the power comes from the batteries. After an hour's shoot as fas as I can tell I have not drawn at all on the power of the battery pack. What is going wrong?

A: In my experience with the Canon 600 series speedlight, the Quantum Power pack appears to assist the batteries inside the speedlight. I notice that:- recharging time is much faster, - the speedlight batteries do discharge (but more slowly than without the Quantum),- after many flashes, the Quantum does drain its power level (4 LEDs becomes 3 LEDs becomes 2 LEDs (I've never drained the Quantum beyond 2 LEDs)). - If the batteries inside the speedlight are exhausted, the Quantum alone will not power the speedlight.

Q: 8. Hello do they work with the quantum QT flash?

A: This battery is compatible with the Quantum Q series flashes.

Q: 9. Is the turbo SC Slim unit compatible with the Nikon SB-910?

A: YEP! I use it for the SB 910 & SB 800 - Just make sure to get the right cable

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT?

A: The Turbo SC Power Pack is compatible with the Canon 600EX-RT. You would simply need the Quantum CZ2 Power Cable for Turbo Series Power Packs.

This is a great battery. It charges fast and I can get lots of flashes. It has a handy meter that shows you how much battery is left. Small enough to fit in your pocket. I use it with the quantum trio and it works great!

If you're still fishing in your camera backpack for fresh AA batteries during a critical time in the shoot, give up about $and relax. The Turbo SC is so lightweight you barely know it's either clipped to your belt or hung from your neck with the free leather strap. It charges fast, and holds that charge for hundreds of flashes. The cable seems well made, but I'll know more once I've used it on a couple dozen photojournalism assignments. I do lots of work aboard boats, mostly sailing, and the unit gives me just what I need for fill flash in an environment that requires a lot of hopping around. No complaints so far.

I am a wedding and event photographer, among other types of photography. I've been using turbos for years, even sent them back to be rebuilt. I have a D3 and SB800 , and even bouncing light I need less power than I used to so when my last Turbo (had turbo, then turbo Z) died I stuck to rechargeable AAs. I decided it was time for that extra kick again, tired of loosing that 2nd and third shot for in store runway events and other quick repeat shots. I didn't miss the extra weight and having the cord be one more thing to make sure to untangle when putting my gear down, but this turbo sc is so small and light I barely feel it. I ordered the free strap that comes with it, but usually I just tuck it into my shoot sac and I'm good to go. Don't mind the cord so much as it isn't coming with the weight, and so glad to get the power back! I've blown 2 flashes over the years testing my equipment before jobs. I hope I get it this time and remember to NOT fire rapid full flashes! The turbo can take it but not the flash! As we say in our house regarding computers, don't be a mad clicker, applies to photography as well. No downside really to this, except the price, but if you're a pro, it's well worth it. I didn't add long lasting or reliable to the pros: list as I haven't had it that long, but my other turbos were both!

For years I've shot weddings and outdoor portrait sessions with Canon 550EX, then 580EX, and now 580EX2 flash units. Except for very short shoots, I've always attached the battery pack that holds 6 AA batteries. I take a full set of backups to weddings, and usually use them later in the reception. All told, that's 20 rechargeable AA batteries that I need for every wedding. My charger does 8 batteries at a time, so that's 3 loads per wedding. Now, I do 1 load of AAs per wedding: 4 for the flash head and 4 backups. Then I plug this bad boy into the head, and it lasts far longer than the 6-battery pack ever did, and with faster recharge speeds too. I did buy two of these because I'd hate to be stuck in a dark reception hall with a dead flash, and that was horribly expensive (like $900 with a cable), but I'm happy I did. Five stars for this product.

Just Picked this up. Hooked up to Speedlite 580EXII. It is excellent for indoor basketball fast action shots. Hardly lost any shots as opposed to using the speedlite without it, which took too long to charge for a fast action sport like basketball. Excellent piece.

I shoot all day weddings. Sometimes lasting up to 12 hours. I replaced my old Turbo with the SC. It is so light I don't even know it's clipped on. I have used it several times so far and have never drained it completely. Recycle time is fast. Recharge time is fast. I have not found anything negative with this product except maybe the price. But if it lasts for years then it is totaly worth it.

It's light and small. With the amount of movement I do, I did not want a power pack that would hinder me moving around or weigh me down. With the Canon 580EX II, I shot a wedding with lots of flash for over 5 hours and still had about 25% of charge left. It charges quickly. Included with the package was a free mail-for strap for the pack. I highly recommend purchasing this. Cord is nicely coiled and heavy duty. Operation is quick and painless. I don't worry about my flash getting burned out when the unit is on and plugging it in. Belt clip is secure, though I don't use it. The facing of the unit is simple and stupid, so you immediately know how much charge you have left just with a quarter second glance.
