A: The dividers work well for vertical separation but would be more challenging to configure for items laid flat. I've used it with an I-Pad and placed a layer of foam on top of the pad - but didn't place lenses or cameras on top because of the space limitation. It would work better in my Pelican 1510 w/divider set. That would give more space to separate hard items from the computer.

A: There is no one way to place things in this divider, you can maneuver the padding to accommodate your gear.

A: It is just the height of the divider. This is a kit for the Pelican 1520 Series Cases and fits perfectly. On other cases the fit is not guaranteed.

Your really can't go wrong with any Pelican product. The divider set is a good as you can get. Built to last like all of Pelican products. Many years ago I bought a pelican 1200 case for my work camera. The camera has been thrown all around my large step van. Not a problem in a Pelican Case. 5

I bought the case with the foam divider set. I soon upgraded to this padded divider set. It's great! Fully adjustable, holds 90% of my gear. It's safe from damage and organized. Worth every penny! 5

With my new DSLR purchase and the aquisition of more gear I have already been through several Pelican cases. I started with a 1400 and the pluck foam, then went to the 1450 with the pluck foam. After purchasing a flash and macro lens I decided the foam wasn't suitable for my growing gear. Replacing the foam each time I get new gear is not cost effective. The padded divider is great for those who change their mind or add gear. I did add some extra foam under the lenses to make them fit tighter. My only complaint about the divider set is that the long dividers dictate how the case is set up. 5

I originally got a 1650 with foam, and while it is a great solution for airlines and shipping, I found that I couldn't fit a whole lot in there, and that reconfiguring the foam is difficult. With dividers (as long as I'm not flying) I can keep a lot more at hand and safe for my handling than with the foam. 5

I used to use the foam padding and break out shapes for delicate gear, but I find that it doesn't last that long with a lot of use -- the padded divider set is actually the perfect long-term solution for a Pelican case. You get a lot of pieces to organize with and it's well padded enough for air travel. My only complaint might be that it's difficult to create some of the odder configurations you might need due to the uniformity of most of the dividers, but you can make almost anything work. 5
