Author Helen Q. Huang is an award-winning costume designer who has worked in theatres throughout the United States. Author Emily Hoem is an Instructor of advanced sewing, tailoring, and patternmaking at the University of Maryland and the Tailor/Draper for the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. She also does freelance tailoring and draping for many theatres in the DC Metro area, including Wolf Trap Opera Company, Washington Ballet, Signature Theatre, Folger Theatre, and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

Author Kelsey Hunt is a freelance costume designer based in the DC Metro area. Her work may be seen at Studio Theatre, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Theatre J, The Maryland Opera Studio, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, and Triad Stage. Kelsey served for six seasons as Resident Costume Designer at Triad Stage and is a two-time recipient of the Marian A. Smith Award.

A: The paper is part of their Signature Worthy Series. It is the same paper sold in two different packaging. The Epson papers below are part of their Signature Series. Q: 4. WHAT IS THE ARCHIVAL RATING ON HOT PRESS BRIGHT?

A: My understanding is that the pigments used in Hot Press Bright and the paper itself are rated in excess of 200 years, but the issue is always modified by how the print will be displayed. There is some evidence that some fading will occur at certain light levels after about 50-60 years if exhibited in constant light over time. Also, there may be some differences in archival properties depending on characteristics of the print, with black and white images being having some differences with color prints, even when printed on Epson Hot Press Bright with Epson pigments. The bottom line is that prints are likely to outlast the print-maker, but after that, who knows. Probably too much is made over these issues now with digital images, since the file can be preserved and a reprint made should an image fade. No other art has ever had this possibility attached to it before. Many of Jackson Pollock's best paintings, for example, have already exhibited significant fading over time and restoration.

Great in the Epson 7900. This paper looks and feels like a true fine art paper should. Natural color base of this paper is a cream color when compared to bright white tone of most other fine art papers I print on. I would really call this warm-tone paper. Great for B/W portraits. 5

This was my first time using this paper and the first thing that impressed me was the weight of the paper. I purchased this paper as a substitute for canvas (to expensive) to see if it would enhance the paint brush effect on my picture. Can't say that it did but I think it will work great for other effects. Colors are a little darker than I would like and changing settings to compensate have yet to find the best setting for my taste. I always use Epson paper and ink on my R1800 and have always had great results. 5

I got this paper for printing photographs for my client and they are in amazement at the texture and colour saturation that this paper delivers.Truly a great paper, not too stark white like some other papers, it surely has a natural warmth to it. 5

I was fortunate that a major research library believed my images that were in an exhibition earlier this year were good enough to be added to its permanent collection. The original prints were on lustre paper. But the institution would only accept cotton fiber. Because B&H had a selection of Epson papers on hand to sample, it was a bit of a challenge with so many offerings. My prints were in Black and White and I wanted a warm feel to them. Hence, picking the Cold Press Natural. My images were printed on a $5,000.00 Epson printer. The results were breathtaking. I could see detail that was absent in the lustre prints. By all means, buy this paper and see the results of your images that you would never see in less quality paper. 5

I have not been a fan of matte paper until I tried the Epson Fine Art Papers. I had a sample pack I picked up at a trade show. I printed a test print on the Hot Press Natural paper and loved the results. To be honest, I thought I was buying the Hot Press Natural, so I printed several more test prints on the sample paper of the Cold Press and it's just as nice. The matte papers I've used in the past generally look flat and dull, but the Epson FAPs are very nice with solid black points. I'm very excited to try a few more. It works really well with dreamy, watercolor-y type images. The texture is stronger than the Hot Press product. 5

The top of the line Epson papers are excellent. This is a beautifully textured, durable paper. Even with the texture of the cold press papers detail is sharp. Creamy color of the Natural paper should be taken into account in re: color of your photos. ICC color profile is quite accurate--with my Epson 3880 printer. It is a bit annoying that the texture on both sides of the paper is virtually identical and, although there is a tag on the sleeve the paper is packed in telling you which side to print, you have to pay too much attention to this. Small point, but it shouldn't be an issue. 5

Makes great b&w prints. Deep blacks nice tonal range. A little expensive but worth it. This is a matte finish paper. Slightly textured.. 5
