This bracket is designed for larger DSLR camera with side/vertical grip. The top bar simply swings over handle with foam grip for flash orientation in line with lens. It has anti rotation holders for both mounting point of camera and flash hot shoe, although I choose to remove these at the top (they unscrew and slide out) and also leave the ones for the camera with room to move, as sometime its handy to be able to pivot bottom arm and hot shoe mounting point. The keyless screws for mounting camera and hot shoe mount bind tight to prevent slipping, but not too tight that they are impossible to unscrew. Perfect friction. The top bar is held one side or the other by a spring loaded pin. So far in use it works well... its simple and effective... I haven't had a situation where the arm has swung over accidentally. The whole bracket is very sturdy and very well made... usual A+ craftsmanship from Custom Brackets. I couldn't justify spending the hundreds of dollars on the more expensive brand, but I think this does exactly the same job. You will need a flash cable for using this bracket, Nikon SC-29 or equivalent. The only thing I will mention, it does make a big profile all connected together. So when you have camera slung on shoulder, the flash on top of bracket sits a fair way from your body. So if your moving among people at an event or in a press pack, it will get bumped. This will happen with most bracket setups, but just worth noting. 5
