Q: 1. When using the M-Adapter L from Leica on the SL2-s with M style lenses, does the adapter provide automatic stop down, or are you viewing through the closed down aperture? For example, if it is an F2 lens, and you have the aperture set at F11, will you be viewing through the viewfinder of the SL2-s at F2 or F11? Also, I understand when using the adapter that infinite focus will be less then infinite on the lens. How does focusing of M lenses work out in real life?

A: According to Leica, the camera automatically switches to aperture priority when the adapter is attached. As for the focusing, a sharp image is achieved before the mechanical infinity stop on the lens is reached.

Q: 2. I want to buy this camera but I have reservations that it is not up to spec. as compared to other cameras. Leica makes the best still cameras but not quite sure for motion pictures. The SL2 for example had moire problems..?

A: Being that the SL2-S is a new model, there have been no reports of moire with it. It is perfectly capable for video applications.

Q: 3. If you use the SL2 camera with the adapter for the Leica M lenses will the camera shoot hi res pictures or will it only be able to shoot in the aps partial sensor mode? Also with the M series lens will the SL2 camera be able to autofocus?

A: The Leica SL2 Mirrorless Digital Camera uses a full-frame sensor and the Leica M-mount lenses were designed for use with a full-frame sensor. If you use the Leica M-Adapter L (Silver), B&H # LEMATS, to connect Leica M-mount lenses on the Leica SL2 Mirrorless Digital Camera, it would use the full sensor. Leica M-series lenses are manual focus lenses, so you would have to focus the lenses manually.

Q: 5. Does moire goes away completely with a fixed lens? I understand theres no low pass filter and that may make it impossible to avoid it completely. Thank you very much

A: A prime lens does not really effect the moire that can can happen by cameras with out a low pass filter.

Q: 6. How will this camera perform for startscape / Milky Way photography? I have an SL2 for landscape work but am considering adding either this or the Sony A7III for astrophotography.

A: This camera would be excellent for shooting a star scape or the Milky Way due to its high sensitivity.

Q: 7. Do super-wide M lenses still color shift in the corners on this new sensor? I keep reading this quote about the SL2-S: "sensor stack fully compatible with Leica M-Lenses". I wonder what they're trying to say.

A: From testing and observation, there does not appear to be any color shifting in the corners of their new sensor designed for the camera. And as for the "sensor stack fully compatible with Leica M-Lenses" quote, they are referring to the fact that their M-Lenses are some of the best optical glass that they manufacturer, so the new sensor takes full advantage of that sharpness and color rendering to produce images that hold up to the Leica standard.

Q: 8. Does the RRS L-Plate have a QD socket on the vertical as well as the horizontal arms?

A: Yes. Both the base and the L-component of this RRS L-plate for the Leica SL2/SL2-S have QD sockets. Please see the third picture in our photo set.

Q: 9. Would this be considered a semi-pro or pro level camera? Is it a direct competition for the Nikon Z9? Is this a camera I can use for 10 years or is this a 4-5 year camera?
