A: absolutely. I use a USB audio interface to drive mine, but you can also just plug it in to the headphone jack on a laptop or desktop.

A: I bought these earphones for my son who is a video editor. He wears them for long periods of time daily and has no complaints. The cord is also very long so your mother wouldnt have to sit right in front of the TV. Please make sure that her TV has a place to plug them in as not all TVs do.

A: There is no volume control. If you're familiar with Sony's MDR-7506 headphones, these are nearly identical to those except that the Senal headphones have a detachable cable. I use these headphones for monitoring audio during professional video production shoots. For that purpose, they are excellent headphones.
