Press the center of the mount firmly into the windshield, then flip down the lock lever, done! To remove, lift up the lock lever, then with your finger tips, peel up the edge of the suction cup. This will cause it to release from the windshield. Mount works great. TIP: get an assortment of GoPro mount adaptors and extensions for different mounting situations you will inevitably encounter. A: This product works best on windows or perhaps the exterior of a car. Some dashboards are made of materials that do not work well with suction cups so you'd have to test it out to know for certain.

The X3 and X3-PLUS certainly have a similar design and function, but the original X3 doesn't allow for the changing of mounts like the X3-PLUS.
