The Hoya C12 filter is helpful when:

  • You are using daylight-balanced film, the light source is very warm, and you want to record accurate colors on the film. Examples of warm light sources are low-power traditional light bulbs, candles, and some halogen bulbs.
  • You are shooting a daylight-balanced film and want to create a day-for-night look. The extra blue cast will help give daytime that dark blue night feel, especially on overcast days.

Hoya multicoat (HMC) filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses. These popular filters minimize reflection, reduce flare and ghosting, and result in over 97% average light transmission.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much better is the image equality on these compared to the $15 Vivitar set?

A: Image quality with the Hoya 82mm HMC Close-Up Filter Set II (+1, +2, and +4) is superior to the image quality when using the Vivitar 82mm Close-Up Macro Lens Kit. The Hoya filters are coated. The coatings will reduce flair.

Q: 2. What country are Hoya filters made in?

A: The Hoya 67mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter is manufactured in the Philippines.

Q: 3. Would it also work on the 7D?

A: The Vello BG-C12 Battery Grip for Canon 7D Mark II is not compatible with the Canon 7D camera.

Q: 4. May this 72mm filters fit on a 18-35mm Sigma lens ??

A: The Hoya 72mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter is not a thin filter so it might vignette a wide lens such as the Sigma 18-35mm. This Hoya HD3 is thin and would be a better option: https://bhpho.to/2pRzaOn

Q: 5. I've seen this on Vello's website for months with a photo, item# and price yet still not released. When will this be released what's the hold up?

A: Yes, the Hoya 40.5mm NXT Circular Polarizer is compatible with the Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

Q: 7. I do NOT want a slim profile filter. I am only interested in a 67mm CP filter. Is this a slim profile filter? thanks

A: The Hoya 67mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter is not a wide filter. It is a thin frame filter. This one is considered more of a standard frame, BH #BWCPB67 (https://bhpho.to/3WTjKsY).

Q: 8. Hello,I noticed the only difference between this Hoya circular polarizer and last years model is this one is not coated. What is the benefit of a non-coated filter?Sincerely,Daniel

A: The main benefit of a non-coated filter is a lower price point. A multi-coated filter will provide dramatically improved light transmission and resistance to glare. If you have the option to spend more for multi-coating, I would definitely recommend it.

Q: 9. Does this filter come with a case?

A: The packaging for the filter is the case, as you can see in the 2nd photo in our images.

Q: 10. Is the microphone included?

A: This Auray RF-C12 Professional Desktop Isolation Filter does not include a microphone. It includes the small acoustic filter, stand, and mounting hardware to attach a microphone, or connect to a separate mic stand.
