The Hoya C8 filter is helpful when:

  • You are using daylight-balanced film, the light source is warm, and you want to record accurate colors on the film. Examples of warm light sources are traditional light bulbs and some halogen bulbs.
  • You are shooting a daylight-balanced film and you want to create a day-for-night look. The extra blue cast will help give daytime that night feel, especially on overcast days.

Hoya multicoat (HMC) filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses. These popular filters minimize reflection, reduce flare and ghosting, and result in over 97% average light transmission.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello!Could you please tell me if this filter is compatible with this lens: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/892390-REG/Sony_selp1650_16_50mm_F_3_5_5_6_Power_Zoom.htmlThank you!

A: Yes, the Hoya 40.5mm NXT Circular Polarizer is compatible with the Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

Q: 2. What is the difference between the NXT and the NXT PLUS filter?

A: The plus it multicoated to reduce ghosting and flares and it has top knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Q: 3. Does It work w 3rd party (non canon) LP-E6 battery?

A: I used a non-Canon battery in mine and it worked just fine. Hope that helps.

Q: 4. I do NOT want a slim profile filter. I am only interested in a 67mm CP filter. Is this a slim profile filter? thanks

A: The Hoya 67mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter is not a wide filter. It is a thin frame filter. This one is considered more of a standard frame, BH #BWCPB67 (https://bhpho.to/3WTjKsY).

Q: 5. Does this scope have fastar capability? Thank you.

A: Yes. The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope is Fastar compatible.

Q: 6. Is this the same filter as the Hoya NXT Circular Polarizer filter, just updated?

A: According to Hoya, the NXTPlus filters are improved over the NXT-series because they "use better glass, an improved multi-coating process, more multi-coated layers for better light transmission, AND add a new 'Waterproof' Top-coat to repel water quickly away from the surface which makes it easier to clean and more fun to use." For more info, please see Hoya's site here: https://bit.ly/3mo88dO

Q: 7. Do you need to buy a separate batterie for the grip itself?

A: It takes 2 canon batteries or you can use normal AA batteries in the AA holder that it comes with, so yes you need to provide your own batteries. The grip is really nice and it is well built!

Q: 8. How much better is the image equality on these compared to the $15 Vivitar set?

A: Image quality with the Hoya 82mm HMC Close-Up Filter Set II (+1, +2, and +4) is superior to the image quality when using the Vivitar 82mm Close-Up Macro Lens Kit. The Hoya filters are coated. The coatings will reduce flair.

Q: 9. Has anyone tried an Arca-Swiss style plate made for the Canon grip (Really Right Stuff or similar) on this grip? Does it fit okay?

A: You shouldn't have any problem using any quick release plate on the Vello BG-C8 Battery Grip, since there is a standard 1/4 -20 socket on the bottom.

Q: 10. What mount is suitable for C8-A-XLT?

A: With an instrument load capacity of 30 lbs, the Advanced VX Mount and Tripod Item #: 91519 is a perfect match for the C8-A-XLT CGE Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube.
