The Canon RF-mount 35mm T2.9 Anamorphic 1.6x Lens from Sirui produces a wider look equivalent to a 22mm spherical full-frame field of view. Suitable for capturing architecture, landscapes, and confined spaces, this lens features rich detail, cinematic, oval bokeh, and artistic lens flairs. This lens produces horizontal blue streaks when pointed at a light source, giving your footage a dreamy or science fiction aesthetic. An image captured in 16:9 is de-squeezed to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio, whereas shooting in 3:2 yields a 2.4:1 final image.

A key aspect of anamorphic lenses is oval bokeh, which can gently distort objects and lights in the distance, providing an abstract background for your actors. Its T2.9 aperture produces a shallow depth of field, blurring everything in front or behind the specifically chosen focal plane. This lens incorporates a 1/4"-20 mounting thread and has cine-style geared focus and aperture rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the image circle?

A: The Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens (Sony E) in order to say it is full frame, it must have an image circle of 43.4mm.

Q: 2. hi i am using this lens for still photography? does now one know the 'desqueeze' ratio? i tried 1.6 but it doesnt work. 1.33 ratio seems to work fine. but can anyone say what is the recommended desqueeze ration? i use Leica SL2S and the L mount version of the full frame 75mm thanks Best Kannan

A: For best results content needs to be captured in 16:9 and then de-squeezed to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio. we suggest the following compression 35 mm - 4K (16:9) 3840x2160 pixels (Sensor range: 6000 x 3368 pixels) 35 mm - Full HD (16:9) 1920x1080 pixels (Sensor range: 6000 x 3368 pixels)

A: The Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens is an anamorphic lens.

A: The Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens (Sony E) lists a max diameter of 88mm.

Q: 5. Is this lens adaptable to EF?

A: No, unfortunately, the Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens (Sony E), cannot be adapted or modified for use with an EF mount. Mirrorless lens must be closer to the sensor, and no adapter would be able to compensate.

Q: 6. How can someone buy the hard case alone? I already own the 50 and 75 mm anamorphic from sirui and you can't get the hard case unless you buy the 4 lenses

A: At this time the case can only be ordered with the lens kit.

A: No, the Panasonic BGH1 uses a Micro Four Thirds mount.

A: Atomos, Blackmagic Design, SmallHD, and TVLogic monitors support anamorphic desqueeze.

Hockey Weddings Graduations The four buttons for focus lock are great. not that bad weight wise. lens hood is huge with the goofy slider for filter access. The limiter on the lens really works, but I never use it.

Superb optics and rock solid build. This is the best lens I own. This lens puts your game up a couple of notches.

I use the 35-100 as a faster replacement for the 50-200. The build quality and resulting image quality of this lens is amazing. I now have a much more capable indoor sport shooting setup with this lens. Pros: Sharp at f/2, sharper at f/2.8, focus limiter to assist with focus hunting, focus stop buttons for use with C-AF. Cons: Heavy. AF motor slightly noisy. The lens is heavier than I anticipated, so I use it on a monopod. The tripod mount on the lens is very stiff, and has no problem supporting the lens, E-3 and grip.

excellent, fast, sharp lens. I use it for indoor sporting events and weddings. Not to heavy. Focus lock buttons on front of lens is a nice touch

There's no denying it's heavy and expensive, but I use it on an adapter for my Micro Four Thirds cameras and think it's probably the highest performing I own, perhaps that I've ever owned in 62 years of photography.
On a whim last summer, I put it on an Olympus OM-1 MkIII and photographed the planet Jupiter handheld. It's not that long at 100mm, 200mm equivalent, but it easily resolved Jupiter and the Galilean moons! What a lens it is. Jupiter images are on another computer, perhaps I can add them later.

Yes, it's heavy piece of glass but worths every cent and every ounce. Incredibly sharp wide open with floating zooming and focusing mechanisms. I've found it as perfect choice for portraits. If you are looking for impeccable optics for 4/3 system, I think ZD 35-100 is the One.

I own this entry into the SHG line of Zuiko Digital Lenses along with the 7-14mm, 14-35mm and the 150mm entrants. There is not a slouch in the line up. I particularly enjoy landscape and wildlife photography, so I have not used this lens in either portrait or action sports settings. That being said, no doubt this lens would excel at both. With a bright f/2 across the spectrum, you get crisp and clear images, whether the subject is still or moving at a good clip. The lens is always paired with my E-5 (I also have the E-420 and E-620) and the combination offers solid weather proofing as well as bright optics. Post processing is open to new opportunities when the image is already solid whether in RAW or jpeg formats. The build of the lens is solid, and that build, coupled with the optics inside, does contribute to some weight. I take mine hiking and have never noticed the weight to be an issue, even with a second camera along for the walk. Olympus is hinting at new camera bodies to make use of the beautiful images this lens can provide in the right hands. Pick one up and see what one of the most robust lenses on the market can do, and be prepared to be challenged, and rewarded by what this lens produces.

Excellent lens for sports day and night shooting, the fast f/stop makes it adaptable for both. Also the f2.0 makes it a good lens for portraits when you want the background out of focuse

I purchased this lens for use in sports photography, specifically hockey. Hockey rinks are notorious for uneven, low-level lighting. This f/2.0 handles it exceptionally well. The autofocus is fast and accurate. It's a bit heavy but I haven't found an equivalent lens that isn't, and i haven't found one that compares on price/quality.

This is the best medium telephoto zoom lens and portrait lens for 4/3rds and beyond. Lens is extremely sharp and detailed with beautifully smooth bokeh and great color and contrast. It's focal lenght is very versatile for portraiture, indoor events and even close quarters sports which in which longer lenses can be too long. Autofocus is quite good, not as fast as 50-200mm SWD or 150mm f2 for instance, but it does the job. One great point is that it's quite accurate and AF will rarely if ever miss. Downside is that the lens is quite big with huge lens hood, but it's built like a tank with full weather sealing, internal zoom and focus action. Contrary to specs, it's minimum focus distance is 1.2 meters, not 1.4m and the lens works really great with EX-25 extension tube for macro. It's is not cheap, but it's worth every penny if you shoot portraits, events, concerts and generally need a fast lens.
