Chimera's TECH Lightbank for ikan ID36 LED Light is an ideal light shaping tool for narrowing the ID36's beam and diffusing its output. The lightbank simply slips onto the light's integrated barndoors without support poles or speed rings. The supplied standard 30° Front Lens Screen reduces spill light and provides directional control of the output. Use the included 1/4 and full grid cloths individually with the lens or together for varying degrees of softness.

Q: 1. Does the Chimera 1648 have a silver interior? It appears that the front face is interchangeable. Is there any light loss compared to a bare Area48 (I ask because the DOP choice soft box uses a silver interior to reflect some of the side spill forward and increases the output by 1 stop).

A: The Chimera 1648 No Frame Softbox for BBS Area 48 has a soft silver interior. It comes with two (2) different front screens, one with 1/2 density diffusion and one with 1/4 density diffusion.

Q: 2. Does this work well with the new Litepanels Astra 1x1 or is the Snapbag Softbox a better fit?

A: Chimera has stated that this softbox will fit the Litepanel Astra but it will cover the heat sink in the rear of the fixture slightly.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with the Genaray 1x1?

A: No, that is not compatible. The softbox uses a speedring that slides in to the light. And the Genaray 360 is not the exact same size as a Lite-panel 1x1.The Airbox model 1x1 will work.

A: This softbox is not compatible with the Dracast LED1000 Pro panel. A compatible softbox is the Dracast Softbox for LED1000 B&H # DRSB1000700.

Q: 6. Can I have the measurements of the Neo Chimera Softbox? Specifically the left to right of the wider softbox end (not the end where the Neo itself connects, but the end where the light emits). I want to place two of these side by side on an extension bar on one stand, but I need to make sure that they are as close together as possible and that they fit in the first place.

A: According to Chimera, the rear opening of the Chimera TECH Lightbank Softbox for Rotolight NEO LED is six (6 ) inches in diameter.

Q: 9. Is there an inner baffle that Chimera offers for their other soft boxes that might work with this Universal version?

A: While you may get diffusers of different strengths for the front of the softbox, there are no inner baffles or diffusers designed for use inside the Chimera Universal LED TECH Lightbank (1 x 1').

Q: 10. Does it fit the Dracast LED1000 Kala?

A: Unfortunately, this softbox is not compatible with the Dracast LED1000 Kala.

I am using this Chimera light bank on a Manfrotto Spectra 1'x1' LED. It is easy to put on, folds down quickly, and really helps to turn the light into a soft beautiful source. Price is reasonable for such a high quality product. 5

Know that the Rotolight barn doors are necessary to use this. It is not at first obvious that the barn door wings slip into almost invisible pockets that are built into the Chimera. A simple installation note would have been a time-saver. Pleasing quality of light. It would be nice if the Rotolight carry-pouch was big enough to include the barn doors and Chimera folded up. 5

I'm a gaffer and use mine on Litepanels Astras.� I much prefer this to the bag model that litepanels pushes.� It leaves plenty room for the vents and it sets up quicker and folds down smaller.� Someone posted in a review that it covered up the vents., I will post a picture to show otherwise. 5
