Q: 1. After digesting the reviews, I think this is a very stable tripod. I have a Manfrotto 393 heavy duty head, will the 475b fit the 393 well for my telephoto system weigh about 4.x - 6.x kg?Thanks!

A: Hi There without looking at the specs, I believe this was supposed handle a payload of 26lbs.I am not familiar with the 393 but I use mine with a 15lbs telescope head and 8lbs of telescope. It handles those with no issue whatsoever. It's not super light but if you are looking for stable look no further. Hope this helps.Fred

Q: 2. Maximum payload? I wanna mount cinema camera on this.

A: They do not have a stated load capacity because it can vary depending on what you are mounting the column to. However, the gears are rated to handled up to 20 pounds.

Q: 3. Received it today, how do I attach a sand bag to it? Might be a no brainer but what screws onto the bottom column?

A: I have to admit, I do not know. The tripod is so heavy and stable I've never needed to use a sandbag. Once you get it locked down, it is rock solid. The screw coming out of the bottom is a standard 3/8 thread and my bet is someone makes a hook that threads onto it allowing you to attach a sandbag. Check with B&H and see if such a hook is available.

Q: 4. Is this better to mount a camera to a desk or is a Manfrotto 244 Variable Friction Magic Arm with a Manfrotto 035 Super Clamp without Stud better?

A: The 131TC is better if you wanted to attached an actual tripod head, since there is a base plate with grub screws on top to secure it. The 244 while shorter, offers more articulation and can be used on different surfaces depending on the clamp.

Q: 5. After buying this(not yet), what else should I buy to make a whole camera supporting system? The product image shows a big hole in the middle.

A: This is for a tripod only, you will need to add a head to the top. If you are shooting photography the Sirui K-40X Ball Head is a great choice. For Video we suggest the Manfrotto 502AH Pro Video Head with Flat Base. Ball Head - https://bhpho.to/2kFfCZP Fluid Head - https://bhpho.to/2bKwVVJ

Q: 6. Will a DSLR attach to this mount?

A: No, it will not. This tripod has a 3/8"-16 mount, meant for tripod heads rather than for cameras to be mounted directly. We'd recommend an equally heavy-duty tripod head to take full advantage of the Manfrotto Pro Geared 475B tripod's incredible sturdiness. https://bhpho.to/3s72fWO https://bhpho.to/3pJ0V9O

Q: 7. What is the diameter of the column? I need a longer column 35mm OD.

A: The diameter of the column is 35mm.

Q: 8. What is the stud size on top of the column? Also, the pictures appear to show a stud sticking out from the bottom of the column. Is this correct, and what size is it? Thanks

A: The top base plate has a male 3/8" and a set of grub screws for securing a Manfrotto pan/tilt or ball head there. The bottom of the column has a loop by which you can attach a counterweight.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head. Might there be any issues?

A: No, the GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head would make a great pair to the Manfrotto 131TC tablemount geared column with clamp.

Q: 10. The clamp appears to be bolted to the gearbox which then drives the column. Do you know what thread size the gearbox is tapped to? So i can remove it from the clamp and remount it.

A: You would have to contact Manfrotto for that information, their number is (201) 818-9500 480-940-1103 repairs

This is built like a tank. It’s absolutely amazing quality and easy to mount and use.

While this was out of stock, I purchased a couple of other more expensive, lower quality, less sturdy desktop camera mount arms. The other arms offer more flexible range of motion, but the simplicity of this item is strength: having the camera weight on a single axis with insanely robust hardware makes for a much more stable mount than a camera on an articulating arm, which tends to magnify any thumps or vibrations.

I'm using this to attach a tripod head to my cart. The clamp itself feels super secure and I'm not worried about that at all.

The geared column is less secure. Probably totally fine for a DSLR, but I'm pushing the envelope with a Sony F55 on here. When locked it holds it fine, but unlocked the column will slide all the way down so I need to remember to put a hand on the camera before raising/lowering.

Still giving 5 stars because it's probably not meant for my use case and feels pretty solid considering. I do wish the weight capacity had been included in the specs page though.

Combined with a sturdy ladder of appropriate height and ballhead this becomes the most versatile camera platform imaginable...superb for architectural or any location work requiring elevated/varying camera positions. Tabletop is way understated...Bogen/Manfrotto needs to rename this product...perhaps Elevator Geared Camera Column...

I use this product to mount a camera system used for timing tack meet running events off a 12' ladder. This tablemount lends great stability to the camera, which can not move during operation.

Prior to using this device I was shooting table-top scenes with my camera on a tripod. Regularly tripping over the tripod's legs eventually got to me. So when I found out that Manfrotto made a geared, table mounted column, I decided to give it a try. And I have never looked back. Table top photography is now a pure joy. I highly recommend it as a useful table-top tool.
