AIDA Imaging offers this 6mm f/2.4 3MP M12 Lens for AIDA HD-NDI-MINI as an alternative to the HD-NDI-MINI's preinstalled 3.2mm fisheye lens. This 6mm lens provides a narrower 60° field of view when compared to the 3.2mm model; this tighter image helps to prevent distortion on the edges of the frame. These features extend the utility of the extremely compact camera from AIDA, making the most of its progressive CMOS sensor. While this lens has been designed specifically for use with the HD-NDI-MINI, it will also perform well with any camera equipped with an M12 lens mount and a 1/2.5" or smaller image sensor.

My expectations for a limited lens performance were set by the HD FA 31/1.8 - a quite high bar. This lens definitely surpassed it: straight out of camera images are rich in tonality to the point I don't need to open shadows or add clarity. Sharpness at f/2.4 is very impressive across the frame, and bokeh is fluid and morphs beautifully at the transition between subject and background. There's some light fall off wide open, which disappears at f/4, but I defy you to find it in attached sample photos. :) The lens itself balances very well with the K1 II body, while quick shift focus add a nice subtle touch at close focus distances. Autofocus does rotate the focus ring, which was a bit unsettling in the beginning, before adjusting my resting hand position accordingly. Autofocus speed is very fast and precise - finally the limiteds design met the modern technology. And to keep the focus ;) I shall not dwell on the feeling of holding an amazing piece of art. This is Pentax at its best!

Wide angle full frame lenses have been in short supply when running a k1. I have a 15-30 (tamron branded Pentax) and some older k glass. I was really excited as well as anxious to buy this 21mm 2.4 limited lens last week-end. The only one in stock so nothing on display. Immediately did one of my favourite walks across the Manhattan Bridge to Dumbo and back over the Brooklyn in a hard clear December New York light then later in the evening on 5th Avenue. Imagers were alive, tack sharp and honest to the subject. Smaller lighter and tighter than the 15-30 and 28-70.along the lines of the 50* but more compact. Takes a circular filter even with the fixe lend hood. Now my go-to walk around in tall cities. Worth the money for sure.

Finally pulled the trigger and bought this beauty. I haven't tested it in Imatest for sharpness yet, but I think I will leave it alone because even with the naked eye I can tell that it is a very sharp lens! Images coming from this thing are just out of this world!

The focus ring is somewhat easy to rotate to my taste but otherwise very smooth feeling, no backlash or anything else. Not as pleasing as my old Pentax-M 50mm f1.7, MF lenses will always have advantages over AF lenses in this regard of course.

Autofocus noise is a bit loud for the DC motor but it's ok overall, not a big deal really, at least for still shooters.

The build quality is super, it's bigger than the other three amigos but looks and balanced just great on my K-1. Solid, all-metal construction adds even more positive feelings and will always remind you that it's a limited lens!

Just be aware that not all filters may fit properly because of the integrated lens hood design.

This outstanding lens made me finally give up on the Zeiss Distagon T* 21mm 2.8 (manual focus) i had for the last couple of years, and also the Sigma EX DG 20mm 1.8.
It's amazing not only for wide angle street pics or landscapes, but also wide angled portraits. Actually it's a very versatile wide angle fixed lens.
Portability, bright, design, AF, size, marvelous image quality, one of the best lenses ever from Pentax.
I didn't do a lab test on it, but i won't hesitate using it in situations where the marvelous couple 645Z 25mm F.4 becomes too heavy to carry (street pics, cityscapes or others).
