  • The Event Processor works by comparing each incoming MIDI event with each of its 10 settings. When an incoming MIDI event matches a setting, the event is processed according to that setting. By combining different settings for different incoming events, the Event Processor becomes an extremely powerful tool capable of achieving a wide range of MIDI-processing functions.
  • The Event Processor is programmed by sending it MIDI System Exclusive messages. This is easily done with the MIDI Solutions Programming Tools software. Once programmed, the Event Processor's settings are retained even after power is removed. The Event Processor can be reprogrammed with new settings as often as needed.
  • The Event Processor is MIDI-powered, and requires no batteries or power supply to operate with most MIDI products. A MIDI indicator LED lights up when the product is powered and flashes when MIDI data passes through it.

The Event Processor can perform the following functions:

  • Filter MIDI events
  • Map MIDI events
  • Trigger MIDI events
  • Step through a sequence of MIDI events
  • Turn settings On and Off
  • Store incoming values in variables

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. All of the MIDI cables are plugged in to the keyboard and PC but the notes don't appear on my DAW. How can I fix this?

A: The ART M-Connect Midi to USB cable is a plug and play product. If you are unable to establish communication, make sure any drivers necessary for your keyboard are installed, your keyborad is set to transmit MIDI data, and your DAW software is able to receive MIDI via USB.

Q: 6. This is similar to a previous question about Outputs 3&4. You answered that 3&4 will mirror 1&2 and you can use them for a separate set of monitors, which is what I plan to do. My question is can you switch between the two sets, like an A/B switch or something? Since there isn't a hard switch, is there a control panel which will do this? I'm in the Mac universe.

A: After doing some research, I see that other M4 users have asked MOTU about the same thing (switching between two sets of monitors) but it seems that the M4 does not offer that feature at this time. The only option for now is to route the two outputs to a separate mixer or A/B switch. You may want to contact MOTU directly to let them know that having the ability to switch between two sets of monitors is a desirable feature that users would like to have on the M4. You can reach MOTU by phone at 617-576-2760. Their offices are based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Q: 7. Can you connect it directly to the new IPad Air 4th gen, via USB-C, or do you need an adaptor/CCK?

A: Yes, the MOTU M4 can be connected directly to iOS devices with USB-C running iOS 9 or later using a standard USB-C to USB-C cable.

Q: 8. If I have line 1/2 with microphones, could I connect a music line from another computer? Where?

A: Line level signals can be connected to the interface, back panel; inputs 3/4.

Q: 9. Can I connect 4 XLR Mics to this interface?

A: This interface offers just two XLR microhone inputs.

Q: 10. Is this cable Korg compatible? Arturia compatible? If not, what is?

A: Yes. Compatible provided the Korg and/or Artiria have 3.5mm MIDI connectors. Elektron 121007 Overview Owners of the Model:Samples and Model:Cycles who are looking to connect their machines to other MIDI devices will be delighted with the pair of Elektron CA-3 MIDI Adapters.
