Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi Will this FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon fit into the camera hot shoe and then remotely trig the camera from a handhold second one FlexTT5 .

A: he FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon can sit in the Cameras hot shoe, and with a remote camera cable you could use it to trigger the camera with a second FlexTT5. If your camera has the 10-Pin connection, you could use the N10-ACC (B&H # WIN90MACND). If your camera has the DC-2 connection, you could use the N-MCDC2-ACC (B&H # WICFTT5ND90).

Q: 2. If I had a 3 flash set up, would I buy 3 of these? Or is there a receiver only model? (SB-700)

A: For three flash you would buy four, one for the camera and one per flash.

Q: 3. Does this bundle come with the MiniTT1?

A: This kit comes with 3x TT5 and a AC3.

Q: 4. So, I have a Nikon D800, 3 sb-700 flashes and 3 pocketwizard plus 3 transceivers. Will I be able to use this unit to fire the 3 flashes through the 3 transceivers at high speed? TTL?

A: This unit is ttl, but the plus 3 uits only work on manual. For ttl you need a combo of FlexTT5 and/or MiinTT1's

Q: 5. Hi is it include with Shoulder Strap?

A: This is only the hand strap.

Q: 6. I currently have a Pocketwizard Plus X for my Canon 6D. Is this what I need to attach to the Canon 430ex II in order to take the flash off camera? Thanks!

A: Yes the Pocketwizard Flex TT5 on the bottom of your 430EX II flash will work with the a Plus X but only in manual mode only. The Plus X does not transmit a TTL signal for auto flash. For TTL compatibility you would need on camera a Pocketwizard Flex TT5 or Mini-tt1.The link for the Mini-tt1 is, http://bhpho.to/2VMx2D

Q: 7. Is this compatible with a Nikon D850 and a Nikon Z7?

A: It works with the D850 - sort of. Most functions work but rear curtain sync does not. I have informed PW of this but they have not solved the issue in over a year. These units can be very finicky and frustrating. If I were to do it over, I would seriously look at some of the newer competitors on the scene - they seem to work with less issues and are less $$$ to boot. Just my 2 cents...

Q: 8. Will this work with the GH5 and 2 Elinchrom / Godox strobe lights?

A: HI! the one I have is for Nikon and works very well mixing strobes with plusX trigger and Nikon SB 700, 600 at the same time. I believe that if you choose the one for Panasonic will works well. Look is TT5 is for Panasonic also or just for Nikon, I remember that TT4 is for Canon

Q: 9. Is this transmitter compatible with the transmitters that come with the Profoto D1 system?

A: no you need to use profoto transmitter with their system

Q: 10. Can the TT5 be used in conjunction with the Nikon Creative Lighting System? Such as using the CLS to trigger a key and fill light but then have the PW trigger a flash for a kicker that is out of site from the IR of the CLS commander.

A: Being that the TT5 operates via radio frequency, it would not work with the Nikon CLS system which uses line of sight. What you could do is use the Pocket Wizard Mini TT1 Transmitter, B&H # WIMTT1N on your camera and have a TT5 transceiver on each flash set off camera. To control the other flashes off camera, you can either use a Pocket Wizard AC3 Zone Controller, B&H # WIAC3N on top of the Mini TT1 or you can place another Nikon speedlight on there which has a master function. The hyper speed synch is the dream for any sports photographer, allied to it's tiny size and high range it represents a easy transport gear to any role you might play anywhere. The greatest ever.

I have uses many other Wireless Radio units. For me these are the best I have used. I have 7 flex units along with this kit. I use them everywhere. Outside, on location Executive Portraits etc. I work for a Large Health Care Corp and travel to all of their over 50 locations and to photograph everything. Speedlights and these units are my main tools when it comes to lighting.

This is a very flexible system that works with studio lights and speedlights. Just insert the batteries, set them to the same channel, put one on your camera's hot shoe, and you'll be good to go. It's probably more than I need right now, but it should accommodate all lighting needs going forward.

Now I have complete control, or as close as anyone can get with off camera flash with my Speedlights. Couple this with the mini TT1 Radio Slave and the AC3 ZoneController and your life will be easier.

I have tested these items with my Nikon camera, Nikon speedlites and Nikon compatible speedlites and they work great. The Nikon speedlites I can use on Auto but the Nikon compatible speedlites I have to use on manual. But I may be wrong for the Nikon compatible speedlites, more testing required. I did have a chance to use the TTL Wireless Radio transmitter and receivers with my Nikon speedlite and was very pleased. If I wanted to change my settings on my speedlite, I was able to do so on my camera using the AC3. It saved me from going to the speedilte location and back to my camera position, again and again. I tend to use TTL as a starting point and adjust from there.
