Q: 5. can we mix seagate pros w seagate regular ironwolfs in a nas?

Q: 10. I intend to hook up 4 of these as part of a RAID 0 array to boost performance speeds while doing photo editing and graphics intensive work. Is this ideal for RAID 0, or are they better options out there? WD Black or Seagate Barracuda Pro perhaps?

A: The Seagate 6TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (Retail) BH #SEST6000N000 is a good option for a RAID array and although they are designed as NAS drives, they would work in a desktop environment just as well. The Barracuda Pro and WD Black would also be good options and designed specifically for desktop use.

I love these drives. They last a really long time and whenever I have any issues Seagate warranty replacements are super quick.

This is my first Seagate NAS drive. Prior to this drive I exclusively used WD Reds but after two drives failed on me less than 3 years after they were purchased, I figured I'd branch out and see what other manufacturers were out there. I haven't had any issues crop up yet, but it's still pretty early in the drive's expected lifespan, so we'll see if it holds up in the long run. The drive seems to be at least as good as the WD Reds I had before.

I had two open stations on an 8 station DS 1819+, but we had run low on space at 26 TB. These two drives integrated with the existing WD NAS drives and effectively doubled the size of available space. It took several days for the RAID to spread to the new drives, but when it was finished we had 48TB of storage available. No hiccups, issues, or anything.

I have 4 of these now running 24/7 in my QNAP nas. They are quiet and cool and the Seagate tools are a plus being controlled by the nas. I have never had a problem with Seagate drives and use them exclusively in all my machines.

Worked perfectly and was super easy to break down into 3 separate volumes using Windows 10 Computer Management program. My choices were 2tb for General Purpose-2, and 5tb each for Back-up-1 & Back-up-2
