Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is tipping forward a problem when a laptop is inserted?

A: I have no problem with tipping with a 15 mbp. This may be a little obvious but the lid gets heavy with the laptop in it. Sometimes, in a rush, I forget and just swing it open. This is, of course, user error and nothing wrong with the bag. Unless you have some crazy gaming laptop I believe you'll be fine.

Q: 2. Would this bag fit a Sony fs5 kit?

A: Yes I purchased it for that camera

Q: 3. Will it fit in overhead compartments of smaller regional jets?

A: No, but fits some space under the seat infront of you. The problem is they will ask you to gate check regardless, if you really don't want to separate from your equipment, here is a trick: Before gate check, take all your stuff and put it in a soft bag. That will fit in any overhead. When you arrive, put your stuff back to your roller. A soft bag like the cheap blue ones from IKEA works great. It folds very flat and I always have one tucked in the roller when ever I have to fly. It's a pain but takes me 45 seconds to transfer equipment back and forth. Gives me peace of mind and the equipment always stays with me. I never have to fight with the airline agent and the are happy to take care your empty roller.

Q: 4. Do you recomend this bag for safari? And small planes ?

A: Although this bag is nice, it is also pretty heavy empty. It was bigger than I thought and I ended up not traveling with it. I think it might be a little large for small planes. I ended up putting my camera equipment in a back pack and carrying it on the plane.

Q: 5. Are think tank wheels replaceable??

A: Yes they are!! I had one wheel crack (they're well designed, dual wheels, if one breaks there's still another there) and ThinkTank sent me out a replacement as soon as I contacted them! Great customer service!!

Q: 6. Apple no longer makes the 15 inch Macbook Pro. WIll this case hold the 16 inch version of the Macbook Pro?

A: The main difference between the 15" MBP and 16" MBPs have typically been the screen size (with a thinner bezel) and the main chassis has not increased in size by much. From my understanding and from comparing sizes of the Macbook Pros online, I do not see and problems with it fitting. Dimensions for your consideration: 15" MBP 2019: Height: 0.61"/1.55cm, Width: 13.75"/34.93cm, Depth: 9.48"/24.07cm 16" MBP 2020: Height: 0.64"/1.62cm, Width: 14.09"/35.79cm, Depth: 9.68"/24.59cm

Q: 7. Two questions: 1. Is this airline approved as a carry-on?2. I need to carry a Nikon D800, 200-500mm lens, 28-300mm lens, a Speedlight and filters. Is this the right case?

A: Yes, even for international flights. I have drug it around more airports than I can remember. A great bag, definitely worth the cost. My only consideration is the length of the 200-500. Measure the lens and compare to te bag specs.

Q: 8. Can this hold a Nikon z9 attached to a z 800mm f6.3 VR S?

A: No the Think Tank Photo Airport International V3.0 Carry On (Black) is not tall enough. The z9 wiht the lens attaches is approxemelty 19 inches. And the case interior is 18.5 inches.

Q: 9. Has anyone ever had a smaller commuter plane refuse to put this smaller International (either vs 2 or 3) on as carryon?

A: Yes. Just had the bag refused in a AA flight. It was a small regional jet. Would not fit into the overhead. However the case locked up and equipment was OK when I inspected at pickup.

Q: 10. Would this have room for a Canon 600mm?

A: No.

Ideal for traveling with the needed gear for out of town (via airplane especially). Very well constructed and engineered - clearly they know what photographers need.

i'm using this bag for a small A7SII-based cinema kit. it holds the camera, a kit of five prime lenses, a small cage, external battery plate and batteries, follow focus, a small LED light, and all the little bits and pieces that go with all that. the bag is solid as a rock, flexible, intelligently designed, and generally just a pleasure. i cannot recommend it highly enough.

Extremely well-made, with many thoughtful touches. Protects my gear very well. Replaceable wheels. The list goes on and on...

This is a great bag, i used to carry 3 other bags but now its down to 1. I would have to carry these bags around everywhere but now i can just wheel the 1 around. Helps on my back and its easy access. I also am able to bring the bag on the plane and no one will know its a camera bag. I recommend it.

I am in the middle of my first trip with the Airport Int'l V2.0 and have no complaints. First, a description: the bag is large enough to hold my three camera systems and their accessories. I have (1) Nikon D750 with the battery grip, 3 lens, and a large flash, (2) a GoPro Hero system with many accessories, and (3) a Canon G12. Everything fits - chargers, etc... There is also has a way to carry a tripod on the side of the bag. I flew on a 737-900 and tested the bag both under the seat and in the overhead. It fit in both places. I did not have my laptop in the front pouch. Pretty sure it would not have fit under the seat if I had the laptop in the front pouch. The bag rolls better than any I've used. The bag is a bit heavy on its own because it is very well padded and the external walls are rigid. The gear is extremely well protected. I am extremely pleased with this system. The only con, if you classify it that way, is it is a bit heavy compared with other bags. However, none of those bags protect the gear as well.

I do both photography and videography, and I was looking for a bag to serve as a home base. I was debating between this and the Airport Security, and I will say I was initially very skeptical of the International's capacity. A first glance after unboxing left me underwhelmed. However, after rearranging the dividers, I was able to fit this gear inside: 5DmkIII, 60D, 70-200mm, 24-105mm, 11-16mm, 50mm, Kenko Extension Tubes, 580EXII, Zoom H4N, G3 wireless lavs, headphones, audio cables, timer remotes x2, Rode VideoMic Pro, Zfinder, neutral density filters x2, LED light, Y bracket, Rocket Air, quick release plates, batteries, cards, pens, cleaning kit, card reader, and still have room for a laptop in the outer sleeve. It was put to the test my first flight. It was a photo-finish arriving at the gate...last passenger. It fit front to back (wheels first) in the overhead, talk about peace of mind. I've heard others say the Security only fits sideways, and in that case I would have had to check my bag. Yikes. The more I use it the more I fall in love with this bag. Such a smart design, from the compartments, to the protection sleeves on the internal zippers, the silent wheels, the solid mesh handle, and the peace of mind security system for locking it up while you're away shooting an event. I HIGHLY recommend this bag to those who travel internationally or who want peace of mind no matter where they are in line for a flight (which you sometimes can't control with connecting flights). The disadvantage is not being able to pack a 70-200mm vertically, but if packed well can still fit a huge amount of gear. The extending handle is flimsy, so be sure to pick it up by the cloth handle for lifting. Bag is very well made, sturdy design, strong zippers. I love Think Tank!

Love this case. Extremely well made and very smooth wheels. The dividers provide endless possibilities to accommodate any equipment. Also, the dual TSA locks are nice

I got my first bag several months ago to carry/store my medium format gear. I quickly found out how well made and roomy it was and bought a 2nd. One bag store a Phase One DF body along with 5-lenses a Metz flash and miscl other stuff. The 2nd back replaces a pelican case that stores my tech cam equipment, Cambo WRS, and 3-lenses and miscl stuff with room to spare. Depending on the work the digital back is either connected to the DF or Cambo with plenty of room in either bag.
