The thickness and weight will give this paper a good rigidity and consistent flatness. Also, ISO testing shows this paper has a whiteness of 90% and an opacity of 95%.

It is fast drying and has a smooth finish with a warmtone color for providing an excellent fine art base to your photograph. Additionally, Matt Fibre 200 is acid free and features a calcium carbonate buffer to resist fading that occurs over time.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you deal with the rounded corners when printing?

A: See here how to print the Photo Cards: https://www.hahnemuehle.ca/hahnemuhle-photo-cards/

Q: 2. Does this paper lie flat (with no curl) after printing?

A: The Epson Premium Semimatte Archival Photo Inkjet Paper (24" x 100' Roll) will originally curl up, but after a while, you start to see it lay flat after printing. Now depending on the thickness of the paper and how long it has been rolled up, the paper will not become 100% flat.

Q: 3. Hi there--Can you tell me how this paper differs from Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper S041462? Thanks--

A: It is the same paper. Epson only changed the name.

Q: 4. What is the core size?

A: The Hahnemuhle Photo Luster 290 Inkjet Roll Paper (17" x 100'), B&H # HALPP17100 has a 3'' core.

Q: 5. What is the best way to store a roll of Epson Premium Luster Photo paper? How long does the paper last and not lose quality?

A: For the Epson Premium Luster Photo Inkjet Paper (44" x 100' Roll), B&H # EPS450424, we recommend that the roll is stored in a standing/upright position in a non-humid room. How well the paper is preserved will affect how long the paper will last.

Q: 6. Does Epson Premium Semimatte Archival Photo Inkjet Paper require PK or MK balck ink?

A: PK, photo black

Q: 7. A client wants to know about this paper's longevity? What can I tell him?

A: As with most good quality fine art inkjet papers, their archival longevity typically exceeds 30 years. In some of Hahnemuhle's products, the lifespan of a print can be upwards of 200 years. While we couldn't find any archival testing results from them on the Matt Fiber Duo, proper use-case will ensure your prints will last many, many years. For best results, please follow typical archival guidelines, and see Hahnemuhle's website on longevity here: https://www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/longevity.html

Q: 8. will this work with a Canon iPF 8400s?

A: Yes it is compatible with the ipf 8400 printer.

Q: 9. Can you print on both sides? If only one side, which side? They both look identical.

A: No, the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 Matte FineArt Photo Cards (4 x 6", 30 Cards) , B&H # HAPR46308, has a specific printing side. When you open the tin, the printing side will be facing up. The back can only be used to print text like your name, contact information, etc. It is best practice to print the text on the backside first and once it has dried, print on the front.

Q: 10. Should matte black or photo black ink be used with this paper?

A: We use Photo Black with this paper and get great results. I have never tried matte black but it might have a nice effect.

I was excited to see that Hahnemuhle had released a matt baryta paper. I have been using it for landscape and outdoor scenes. I have not yet tried it for sunsets and night scenes. I love the extreme sharpness of the prints and how the rich colors just pop. I would still probably use the Photo Rag for indoor portraits but for outdoors this was great.

Pricey, but worth every penny if you need Archival. If Archival or OBA presence isn't critical, the Canson Photographique Matte Baryta is just as good and significantly more affordable.
That said, the Hahnemuhle paper is brilliant. It's matte produces rich deep blacks and reproduces sharp details on par with standard Baryta and luster style papers. All without the glare or sheen.
