A better option would be to have a separate video head on the slider, or you could look in to a tripod like B&H #BEA2573FS4. The S4 head which comes with that tripod can be removed and from there you could put the slider on the tripod and the head on the slider.

A: I do not have a camera of that weight. I have used an EOS 5 Canon camera and flash and lens but total weight of that is around 3.5 pounds. That being said, the tripod seems rock steady. Very happy with purchase.
