The Tiffen 55mm Warm Soft/FX 1 Filter can be applied to create a warm cast over an entire image while purposely reducing the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits, or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

The warming effect of this filter can be obtained under daylight when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected. This filter's overall coloration reflects a mired shift value of +45.

This filter has a grade of 1. Grades of 1/2, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Q: 2. Will this fit (and still allow my lens cap to attach) a Canon PowerShot SX500IS?

A: Since the SX500IS does not have filter threads, this filter will not fit. You may be able to find a third-party filter adapter online, but B&H does not carry it at this time.

Q: 3. I just purchased a Canon 50mm/1.4 lens. What type and size UV protector filter would you recommend? Thanks!Michelle

A: The Canon 50mm f1.4 lens uses 58mm sized filters. Unfortunately Canon no longer offers a 58mm sized UV filter. Below is a link to a recommended alternative for your lens:http://bhpho.to/1ejaIvB

Q: 4. I am thinking about a filter for a Swarovski spotting scope that takes an 82mm filter. I am assuming this will work?

Q: 5. can I put a protect filter on top of a polarized filter?

A: If your polarizer filter has a front thread of 77mm, then this Tiffen Protector can fit there.

A: Your mileage may vary, as the amount of distance the minimum focus will decrease with the use of the Tiffen 55mm Close-Up Lenses will depend mostly on the lens that you plan to use.

Q: 7. Would the Canon 49mm Protect Filter work with a Cannon EF-S 10-22 mm lens?

A: Hi--the Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens has a 77mm diameter, so this filter would not fit on it. This is the Canon Protector filter that fits the 10-22mm lens: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/763705-REG/Canon_2602A001_77mm_UV_Protector_Filter.html

Q: 9. Will this fit the RF 28-70 f2?
