Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is B+H an authorized B+W dealer? I went on the Scheider Optics website and they are not listed as a dealer

A: Yes, B&H is an authorized B+W dealer.

Q: 2. I apologize in advance for asking! Filters that you sell B+W 77mm XS-Pro UV MRC-Nano 010M and B+W 58mm XS-Pro UV MRC-Nano 010M are made in Germany or in China?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is Germany. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 3. Will this fit a zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4? the Otus has 86mm front filter thread.

A: Yes this should fit perfectly.A very appropriate choice for such a lens!Colin

Q: 4. Does this filter still come with the case? There are dust issues with the other B+W filters?

A: Currently, the B+W 67mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter comes in a plastic case.

Q: 5. How many multicoating's?

A: The B+W 67mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is multicoated to reduce flair. B+W does not list the number of coatings. There is also a Nano coating that provides an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.

Q: 6. I’m a little confused, do we need an extra aluminium ring to tight the filters to the lens ?

A: If the lens has a front threaded size of 82mm, this filter would fit right into that.

Q: 7. What's the best way to clean this filter? I recently tried using Giotto's Professional Multi Optical Cleaning Solution with a Lens Cleaning Tissue and it left hideous streaks/residue on the surface. Nothing I did would get rid of the streaks, and in a panic I simply wet my fingers with some tap water, moistened the surface of the filter and gently used another tissue. Streaks/cleanser residue finally disappeared. So, what's up with that? I certainly didn't expect to have such a problem, especially when I bought the cleaning solution through B&H and it had such great reviews. There wasn't any info on the insert included with the filter that specified anything about cleaning recommendations. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A: I am sorry you have had such a difficult time cleaning this filter off. It is possible that the cleaning solution you purchased may not perform well with the particular coatings used on this filter. I personally use a microfiber cleaning cloth, and Zeiss brand cleaning solution on all of my lenses and filters and other optics. The solution is extremely effective and is safe for all photo optics and optical coatings. Combined with a microfiber cloth Ive never had a filter or lens I could not get clean. See the links below for a recommended microfiber cloth and the Zeiss solution:http://bhpho.to/18RsyxNhttp://bhpho.to/1dmUVGV

Q: 8. Will you still be able to attach the lens hood on a Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 lens for Sony e mount when this B+W uv filter is on the lens? I read somewhere that it couldn't.

A: This filter can still fit while the lens hood is attached.

Q: 9. This lists the filter as a 010M, but the photo f the filters shows 010. What is the difference?

A: 010M and 010 MRC Nano is the same thing. M stands for multi coating. The filter ring spells it out, instead of having the M after 010. No difference, means the same thing.

Q: 10. How does this filter compare with the B+W 58mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter? I can't tell the difference from the descriptions.

A: Their are two difference between the B+W 58mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter, and the B+W 58mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter. The XS Pro UV filter features a very thin brass rim to prevent vignetting when using the UV filter on a very wide angle lens. Both filters feature brass rims and the same glass with MRC Multi Coating. The second difference is the the Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters that provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water, and scratch prevention.
