Offering both strength and speed, the 960GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card from Sony provides fast read speeds up to 800 MB/s, write speeds up to 700 MB/s and, thanks to the VPG 200 spec, write speeds are guaranteed to not drop below 200 MB/s. This quick performance benefits recording a variety of video resolutions, bit rates, and compressions, as well as high-resolution continuous raw photo shooting. Beyond its speed, this TOUGH memory card also has a reinforced physical design to withstand drops from up to 24.6' and has been rigidity tested to 150 N of force. It can perform in temperatures ranging from 14 to 158°F and is IP57 rated for dust and water resistance. Offering further protection, File Rescue recovery software can be downloaded for recovering lost or even accidentally deleted files and Media Scan Utility can be used to automatically scan CFexpress cards to inform you of the flash memory condition.

Sony does offer another CFexpress Type A lineup — the CEA-G Series — and, if you're wondering which would be better suited for you, here's some info that will help guide your decision. These new cards — the CEA-M Series — feature minimum sustained write speeds of 200 MB/s, but can withstand drops of up to 24.6' and are rigidity tested up to 150 N. While the CEA-G Series does feature minimum sustained write speeds of 400 MB/s, it can only withstand drops up to 15' and is rigidity tested up to 70 N. So, it comes down to whether you need more speed or more durability.

Q: 6. Hey there! A quick question on the Sony CFExpress type A tough cards. Have a Sony A7S III and considering M verse G series. The main difference being the minimum sustained write speed. Are there any recording modes on the A7S III that would create issues on the M series card ?! Frequently record in the higher bit rate modes including 4K 120. Occasionally 1080p at 240fps. Any recommendations on M vs G series and whether the M series can handle everything?? Thank you in advance!

A: You would have no data rate issues using the Sony 960GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card with the Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera (BH #SOA7S3). When shooting with the highest settings the Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera will not exceed the M card's sustained 200 MB write speed.

Q: 7. With the help of PlayMemories Home it is possible to import still images and movies to your computer directly from the camera and use them in different ways. You must install PlayMemories Home to be able to import XAVC S movies and AVCHD movies to your computer or?

A: Well PlayMemories Home is discontinued. They've revamped that software and rebranded it as Imaging Edge Desktop / Mobile. You don't need Imaging edge to transfer stills/video directly from the camera if you're using the USB cable. XAVC S is an MP4 so it should playback fine on windows or mac. AVCHD you might have more trouble with if you're using Mac. It's also inferior in quality so I honestly wouldn't use all together. Hopefully this helps!

Q: 8. Does this support Nikon D6?

A: Yes the D6 accepts CFexpress Type B / XQD cards work with ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type-B & XQD Single-Slot Thunderbolt 3 Workflow Reader

Q: 9. Is these card VPG-400

A: No, the Sony 128GB CFexpress Type B TOUGH Memory Card is not VPG-400 Certified.

Q: 10. Hi how much "space" is a 10 minutes Sony a1 8k 30fps video? 60gb?

A: Please note that the Sony A1 camera will not work with CFexpress B cards. The Sony 160GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card would store about 30min of 8K content at the maximum recording bitrate of the Sony A1. If you lower the bitrate to 200m the recording time would go up to about 1h 25m. Recording times are based on the 160GB Sony CFxpress Type A Card. https://bit.ly/3MbAiX5 Sony 160GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card BH #SOCEAG160

I usually use either Lexar or Sandisk however Sony's Tough line was recommended for use in my Canon R5.

I am shooting 45 megapixel at 12 frames per second and the card never slows down, even after shooting 100 frames, the card keeps writing data without fail. I doubt I will ever run out of space on this 128GB card. Great purchase for those who need space, a rugged card, and a card that can handle high volume of fast loading data.

I was surprised how hot it got when downloading large files in the chip reader. Heat was not really a problem. Just surprising.
