Tiffen 58mm Warm Soft/fx 3 Filter

  • Availability: In Stock

$191.97 $301.39

The Tiffen 58mm Warm Soft/FX 3 Filter can be applied to create a warm cast over an entire image while purposely reducing the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits, or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

The warming effect of this filter can be obtained under daylight when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected. This filter's overall coloration reflects a mired shift value of +45.

This filter has a grade of 3. Grades of 1/2, 1, 2, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Q: 2. Are these IRND Filters?

A: No, Tiffen 77mm Digital ND Filter Kit (2, 3, 4-Stop) are standard ND filters. Tiffen do not offer this filter as a kit. You most get them individually. Q: 3. Will these filters work with the Sony A7iii Kit Lens?

Q: 4. Are these filters stackable? Can they be combined for a darker effect?

A: Yes, each filter has a front thread and can be stacked upon one another.

Q: 5. will this screw onto my Canon Rebel T100 with the standard 55mm lens without an adaptor ring or filter holder?

A: The Tiffen 58mm Graduated Neutral Density Attenuator/Blender 1.2 Filter (4-Stop) will mount directly on the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens (B&H # CA1855EFS), because of the compatible filter thread size.

Q: 6. Will these fit the Sony Alpha a6000?

A: These fit any lens with a 49mm thread

Q: 7. Hi, What is the exat difference between Tiffen Haze 1 and Haze 2A filters? I don't see any clear difference, besides the cost. Thank you!!

A: Hi Aquiles,According to Tiffen, the 2A absorbs all ultraviolet light, whereas the 1 absorbs only 71% of UV. Film and sensors detect UV as additional brightness in subjects like the sky even though our eyes don't, so a UV filter renders photos that are closer to what we perceive. I think you will see slightly richer colors overall with the 2A, but the 1 would make a noticeable improvement. You won't be able to see a difference by just looking through the filter because our eyes naturally filter out the UV.If the extra cost bugs you, go with the Type 1. It will improve your photos as compared with no filter. If you want to get the bluest sky, the Type 2A is better. Incidentally, a polarizing filter can do an even better job of darkening the blue in the sky.Jim

Q: 8. Does filter performance is affected using an adapter for a lens of another diameter?

A: No

Q: 9. Does this work with a Canon T1i? I am not familiar with cameras and this is a gift for my wife who is an amateur photographer. Any other recommendations on filter kits for her camera? She likes taking pictures outside.

A: The kit is designed to fit on lenses with a 58mm filter threading. If your wife has the 18-55mm kit lens this filter set would be a proper fit. If she has a different lens you would need to check on the filter/cap size before purchasing to make sure the size is right. As far as filter kits for outdoor usage goes, this kit has 3 of the most useful filters for outdoor usage. I would stick this kit as my best recommendation for someone starting out and enjoys outdoor photography.

Q: 10. Why are these labeled "Digital?" Will they work fine with film cameras?

A: Although this kit is shown as the Tiffen 58mm Digital Essentials Filter Kit, these same filters can also work on a film camera.
