The Fujinon MKX50-135mm T2.9 Lens in X-Mount is a lightweight cine-style zoom lens for X-mount cameras with a Super 35mm-sized sensor. The electrical contacts within the lens mounts allows communication with X-series cameras. It features a mechanical design with three independent lens control rings: focus, iris, and zoom. Each ring incorporates a cine-style gear with a 0.8 MOD for interfacing with standard cine-style lens accessories. The focus ring features approximately 200° of rotation, which provides room or precise focus pulls, and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens also incorporates a macro mode for close focusing capabilities.

The lens is color matched to other Fujinon lenses such as the HK, ZK, and XK series, which enables smooth intercutting between lenses. The 85mm front enables use with many cine-style matte boxes via use of optional step-up rings (rings not included). The lens weighs only 2.16 pounds, which is fairly light for a cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range. It is designed for cameras with a Fuji X-mount, so it has a short flange focal distance, but the lens allows flange focal distance adjustment so you can fine-tune it to the camera you are using the lens on.

The electical contacts within the lens mount enables communication with X-series cameras, which allows for correction of distortion and color/brightness shading to prevent vignetting. This communication also enables you to achieve a variety of color expressions when using Film Simulation modes.

The 28.5mm diameter image circle covers the 3-perf super 35 format with a 16:9 aspect ratio

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is it possible to use this lens ( Fujifilm 18mm f/2.0 XF R Lens ) on aps-c based Nikon camera , and if there is adapter for that ?

A: Nope. distance from flange to focal plane already shorter than Nikon, so no adapter is possible. use Nikon's excellent 35/1.8 on their APS-C cameras.

Q: 2. which lens would you recommend fungi 14mm or XF 10-24mm?

A: Wow, I could bore you with what I shoot and why; indicating that I am either a photographer or an idiot with money. I Shoot the prime. I shoot only primes with only one exception and this is not it. PhaseOne/IQ260, Arca Swiss, Fuji...it doesn't matter. if you want the best from a lens...you by prime. HOWEVER: if your purpose says you MUST have this range for some unknown reason and you cannot live without that range AND your budget says NO to primes...then, of course, you shoot the 10-24.

Q: 3. Has anyone used the 14 mm with the LEE Seven5 Filter System? Any vignetting or reflection issues?

A: According to the Lee Filters, there would not be an issue with vignetting or reflections when using the Seven5 on this lens.

Q: 4. Would this lens work to take children's indoor sports shots? Would it fit on a Fuji S8500?

A: The focal length will be too short for kids indoor sports. My favorite lens for that use is the Fuji 90mm f2. The focal length is great and the bright aperture works indoors without a flash.

Q: 5. Does the focus motor create noise that could be heard while taking video?

A: The focus motor does produce noise while recording video.

Q: 6. Is this the same XF 18mm f2 R lens that I used with my X-E1 back in 2014 or is this a new updated model?

A: This lens was originally released in 2012.

Q: 7. Is this lens still made in Japan? I see both Japan and Korea in earlier responses.

A: Hi, the countries of origin listed for this lens are Japan and Philippines

Q: 8. Is the 14mm (21mm in full-frame) field of view visible in the optical & electronic viewfinders of the Fuji X-P-pro2?

A: Yes, it is fully compatible with the Xpro2.

Q: 9. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: Unfortunately, the FUJIFILM XF 14mm f/2.8 R Lens is not weather sealed.

Q: 10. Do these fit on the Fujinon MK-R Zooms?

A: The FUJIFILM Focus Lever for MKX18-55mm T2.9 and MKX50-135mm T2.9 Lenses are meant to be used specifically on the MKX18-55mm T2.9 and MKX50-135mm T2.9 Lenses.

I own both the 23mm f/1.4 as well as this lens. For those of you deciding between the two, I hope you find this helpful. The 23mm f/2 is a fantastic everyday lens. It is quick to autofocus, it is quiet, it is small and inconspicuous, the IQ is excellent, and it is weather resistant when paired with a WR body. Compared to the 23mm f/1.4 you may miss the push/pull manual hyperfocal distance scale and manual focus ability. If you are a big fan of manual focus as you would with an old film camera, you may prefer the 23mm f/1.4. The 23mm f/2 is a wire focus and does not hard stop once you have hit the extreme ends of the focus scale. Also the 23mm f/1.4 is a stop higher allowing more light and rendering a nice out of focus background for portraits and events. If you shoot street, need fast AF, and want weather resistance get the 23mm f/2. If you shoot events or portraits or shoot more often in low light where that extra stop may be beneficial, get the 23mm f/1.4. When paired with the X-Pro2 or X-T2, the high ISO performance upwards of ISO 12,800 can counteract the loss of a stop with the 23mm f/2 if you do not mind the increase in noise in low light situations. Overall, this lens is fantastic for traveling light and if I could only have one (prime) lens on my camera, this 23mm f/2 would be it.

I have used Hasselblad, Leica,Zeiss/Contax, Nikon and Canon...and I have never had a sharper lens than Fuji 23mm F2!!! I have been using it on both X-Pro-2 and X-T-1 and it is simply breathtaking on both. AF speed is almost instantaneous and color rendition and resolution are spectacular. I own 3 other Fuji x lenses and they are all excellent but this one is by far the best. Ed Holzer

I was about to buy the 35mm (52.5mm FF equivalent) when I read that the 23 was about to launch. As it was my focal length of choice when shooting film, I quickly pre-ordered it. So far, no regrets.

Got it in time prior to my vacation in Copenhagen and put it to the test with the rainy condition just last week (First week of Nov 2016). I had an incident earlier this year in Iceland that i couldn't bear to bring my XT1 as my lenses were not WR 56-23 1.4-12 Rokinon.....had to rely on my wife's iphone for the pictures. Never again ! I know it's overkill having both 23's but i will be holding to this just in case as my WR backup because i still prefer my 23 1.4 as my regular walk around lens. Pictures were great ! Quiet...in fact if u r not picky between these 2 23's just pick the f/2, u can't go wrong really. And yes....it got it really rained on in my xt1. Lol....i do have another xt1 loved it so much.....xt2 can wait......i am a take your time shooter kinda guy but would still love to have the Acros =( film sim.
