The 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Fujifilm X Mount from Samyang is a manual focus, manual aperture, ultra-wide angle prime lens compatible with APS-C format mirrorless digital cameras. It provides a 93.9° angle of view which translates into a 35mm format focal length equivalency of 21mm. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 is effective in low light shooting and provides shallow depth of field. With extra-low dispersion, aspherical and hybrid aspherical lens elements, chromatic aberrations are minimized and sharp, color-accurate images are the result. UMC lens coating facilitates even light transmission and reduces ghosting and flare. The minimum focus distance for this lens is 11".

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatability with Pentax ist DL

A: It should be compatible but may work only in the manual mode.

Q: 2. Does this lens fit on a EOS Rebel T3i

A: The Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens for Canon will be compatible with the Canon T3i, yes. Do keep in mind that this is a manual focus only lens.

Q: 3. Can the aperture be adjusted in 1/3 increments for Nikon version of the lens?

A: When using the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Nikon F, the aperture cannot be set in 1/3 increments mechanically, but when one sets the lens at the f22 auto (in red) setting, then the f stop can be electronically set at 1/3 increments.

Q: 4. how do you protect your lens since no cap is sold with this one? Is there a cap available for this lens? Is there a filter that can be mounted on the lens such as aUV filter?

A: The comments listed above from others are correct; the Samyang 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount does include the front and rear lens cap as indicated under the In The Box section on our website. However, also as stated, the lens does not accept screw-in filters. As such, you would need a filter adapter system to use filters on this lens. While it may be overkill for simply using a UV filter (though highly recommended for other usages such as neutral density and graduated ND filters), the FotodioX WonderPana Absolute Core for Rokinon, Samyang, Bower 14mm f/2.8 Lens, B&H # FOWPASCK14, would allow you to use either Cokin X-PRo filter, the LEE Filters SW-150, or FotodioX 145mm filters on your lens. To use a protection filter, I would also recommend the Cokin X-Pro Filter Holder (Requires Adapter Ring), B&H # COFHXP, as well as either the Cokin X-Pro 230 UV Sky Neutral Filter, B&H # COXP230, or the Cokin X-Pro UV Resin Filter, B&H # COXP231, for your needs.

Q: 5. I only see 2.8 and then 4 on Aperture ring. Can I set 3.5 aperture on this Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens? for Canon

A: Between 2.8 and 4 there is no detent. Between all other f stop settings there is a detent. I believe the answer to your question is no.

Q: 6. i have a Sigma FP. So, can i use this (Samyang 14mm F2.8-Canon EF) with Sigma MC-21 Mount ?

A: Yes you can with the Sigma MC-21 lens adapter.

Q: 7. Will this work on a Canon XTi?

A: It will work on Canon XTi with a X1.6 cropped sensor. Only 14mm will become 23mm.

Q: 8. Can yall replace a lens or warranty it out

A: If there is an issue with a lens within the period of our return policy (30 days), please contact our Customer Service department. If it is after 30 days, you will need to contact the manufacturer directly.

Q: 9. The description says 21mm (35mm Equivalent on APS-C Sensor) - which makes no sense, since this is supposedly a 14mm lens. Is this a typo?

A: No, it is not a typo. 35mm Equivalent on APS-C Sensor means mounting this lens on a camera that has an effective crop factor of 1.5x, commonly known as Super35 or APS-C. Since this APS-C sensor is smaller than a full frame sensor, the resulting image seems 1.5 times closer. So if you use this on a Full Frame camera, it will be 14mm. If you use it on APS-C it is 21mm. If you use it on micro four-thirds it's more like a 28mm. For more info on crop factor, feel free to search up Tony and Chelsea Northrup on Youtube. They explain the subject quite well. In simple terms, if you have a full frame sensor, feel free to get this lens. I have it on the A7sii and it's ultra wide with some edge distortion.

Q: 10. Does it works on a nikon d5500?

A: Yes, but remember that it is NOT an autofocus lens. Also, remember that on a crop sensor (like the D5500) it won't have as wide a field of view as on a full frame.

Was a little hesitant to purchase a low-cost lens but have been pleasantly surprised with this one. It's used primarily for landscapes and I have found it to be very acceptably sharp whether using hyperfocal or infinity focus points. I don't shoot for National Geographic and don't mind manual focus so this lens has turned out to be a great value for my needs. I'd particularly recommend it for anyone who is beginning to explore landscape and wide-angle photography -- it's a painless path to jump in.

WOW!! Love the price, REALLY love the lens! I have wanted a 14mm, but the more known brands are untouchable for me right now, and I'm just getting into night sky photography (which I haven't had a chance to use it for that yet) and didn't want to break the bank on an ultra wide-angle lens, so this fits the bill! I have used it for landscape, and can't find a thing wrong with it! LOVE!!!

Till now I didn't get a chance to take real pictures with this lens. But I have spent enough time testing this lens out. It is very sharp and well built for the price. My focus calibration was slightly off. But it is pretty straight forward to fix (if you feel that the lens is decentered, im not sure if there is DIY solution for that.). But for fixing the calibration there is a popular DIY video thats floating around. My case was slightly different than others'. The common problem people face is that their Infinity is somewhere between 3 & the infinity mark. IMO, if this is the case, dont tamper with the lens, just make a mark on where the actual infinity is and move on. In my case the infinity was beyond the infinity mark (after the hard stop). If this is the case you dont have any other option other than to try and fix that. The lens looks so unfriendly to mounting filters. I am not quite sure if this will be a pain once I start using it more. I plan to use this only for two things. 1) Night sky photography, 2) Arch & landscape during morning/evening where the light wont be too harsh and make you feel the need for an nd filter.

I bought this lens to pair with my Sony a7ii for landscape photography, especially astrophotography. The lens is very well constructed and has a solid feel to it. The only warning I have is that the front element is HUGE. The petal lens hood is built in and cannot be removed. It is near impossible to use filters with this lens. Stopped down, the lens is very sharp and using focus peaking on the Sony a7ii makes manual focus very easy, especially for non-moving shots, like landscapes. Be sure to take some test shots to find the true infinity point of focus as it is not at the end of the focus ring stop. My copy is about 2mm short of the infinity mark, and it is common on this lens to have different points for infinity focus. It's also nice that Lightroom now has a lens profile for this lens, you just have to manually add it as Lightroom will not automatically recognize this lens as it is does not electronically connect to the camera. For the price, this lens is a no brainer and should be in every landscape photographer's bag!

Once I got my MKIII my 40D just gathered dust, until that is I picked on a whim a Rokinon 8mm on sale from B&H. I actually bought two 8mm Rokinons (one, the only one in 40 years of shooting took a dive - forget trying to get it repaired, think paper weight) I liked it so much I picked up a additional used 40D for pennies as a knockaround for Car Shows and left the 5D MKIII safely in the studio . . . . So when I saw the 14mm again on sale at B&H it was simply a no brainer. The 14mm is equivalent to 22.4mm on a crop sensor, the 14mm is made for full frame cameras. f/2.8 and manual focus and no chip which is why the price is so good and shouldn't be an issue to any Photographer worth his/her salt. *** Tip - simply put it at a focal length of 3 feet, f/8.0 and every thing is in focus. I dig it, not bad at f/2.8 and tack sharp f/8.0 and up with no vignette. The Samyang brand (Korea) Rokinon and Bower are all the same, the barrel is metal not plastic and feels solid, for the money and the images it can produce it's a steal, I have no cons other than a hood that Samyang makes for it ( SFH-14 /150mm filter) is impossible for me to find. Also keep in mind a replacement lens cap runs $40 to replace. A lens that was just one to use for fun has turn into another little side business (Car Shows), who knew? . . . . Thank you B&H for another gem and I hope this this is of some help, Cheers

This lens beat my expectations. As soon as I got this lens I went out shooting test shots to be sure that it was sharp from side to side...and it was. I took comparison shots moving the focus ring to find the correct infinity setting for this lens since I had read that the infinity marker was not accurate. For my lens, it is sharpest with the mark just to the right of 3 meters. But it actually was pretty sharp anywhere between there and the infinity line. Manual focusing was easy as the lens is sharp and bright. All 14mm lenses are going to have distortion and this one is no exception. I found it fairly easy to correct in Lightroom or in PTLens (a program with lens profiles). Night photography is fantastic. I had been using a 24-105mm f4 lens at ISO 1600 with nice results but with this Samyang f2.8, I was able to shoot with a low ISO of 200 instead which really reduces the noise in the image. For a lens this inexpensive, you really can't go wrong. Just treat it carefully as it does not accept filters.
