The 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount from Rokinon is a manual focus, manual aperture, ultra-wide angle prime lens compatible with MFT format mirrorless digital cameras. With MFT sensors it provides a 76.2° angle of view which translates into a 35mm format focal length equivalency of 28mm. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 is effective in low light shooting and provides shallow depth of field. With extra-low dispersion, aspherical and hybrid aspherical lens elements, chromatic aberrations are minimized and sharp, color-accurate images are the result. UMC lens coating facilitates even light transmission and reduces ghosting and flare. The minimum focus distance for this lens is 11".

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Since it's manual everything. Will it turn off shutter speed? Or will it still be an option?

A: The Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount would have no control over your shutter speed. As this is a manual lens, you would set focus on the lens manually by turning the focusing ring on the lens, and you would set the aperture by turning the aperture ring on the lens. However, shutter speed is a camera function, not a lens function, so you would set the shutter speed for your exposure using the controls on your camera; you would have to refer to your camera's instruction manual to view how to manually adjust the shutter speed on your camera.

Q: 2. Does it work for the canon t6s?

A: Yes, but remember that its 14mm for a EF mount (which is full frame) will be 22mm on the T6s crop frame. If you are not considering to go full frame you may want to consider the 12mm it's for APS-C cameras and it's a great lens

Q: 3. Can I use filters with this lens?

A: No, this lens is not designed to work with filters as the front element produces and is rounded.

Q: 4. Will it work on Nikon d3100, with auto focus?

A: This lens is not auto focus on any Nikon camera body. It is manual focus but the confirm focus chip will turn the green indicator on in the view finder when focus is achieved. I hope this helps. I love this lens on my D300, D700 and D800 camera bodies.

Q: 5. Does this lens go up to infinity in manual focus?

A: Yes it goes to infinity. (also, as it doesn't speak to the camera, this lens is only manual).I have owned this lens for two years and really enjoy it of my GH3 and GH4.

Q: 6. Will this lens work with my Nikon 5500?

A: Yes, but be aware that the lens is completely manual, there's no auto focus motor in it. Even if you had a body with a motor built in like the 7000 series and above, it still won't auto focus.

Q: 7. Will this fit Canon EOS 5D Mark VI?

A: yes

Q: 8. I would like to know if this would work with a Nikon D500?

A: Yes it does work on the D500. With the 1.5 Crop factor, The 14mm becomes 21mm. I highly recommend this lens, although it is manual focus, it is very easy to focus. I have had very few out of focus shots with this lens.

Q: 9. I’m shooting a Sony A99II. I assume that aperture is changed directly on this lens rather than via the camera. Can metering still be achieved within the camera?

A: Yes, metering still works, but with the A99II or other SLTs you get instant visual feedback anyway, which is likely more important than the specific meter indication.

Q: 10. Will this work on my R6 with the EF adaptor?

A: Yes it is compatible when using the Canon EF to R adapter.

Bang for the buck? Oh yes like a whole new camera experience. I love this lens and have it on a lot. I own 2 Canon L lens' a 24 - 105f4 and the 70 -200f4 They are awesome but this little Samyang is so neat I am really glad I got it. Seems built great , gives me that other choice for something different. On my 1D Mark IV with a crop factor of 1.3 this lens shoots at more like 17mm,

I've been using this lens for real estate photography and it does the job great. It doesn't have automatic focus, but most of the photography i've been doing has been with a tripod for still shots so I don't really need autofocus anyway. Plus, the focus grip is really easy to use and not a bothersome. I can't afford to spend an extra grand on auto focus when I don't really need it. I highly recommend this lens if you're on a tight budget, into real estate photography and need a sturdy wide angle lens for cheap.

14mm f/2.8 and just $360. This lens is really valuable. If you want to shoot galaxy, it's the best choice for Canon user.

Useful for astrophotography...wide angle lenses give you more time to keep the shutter open before star trails appear. Although manual focus, you can't autofocus on a star anyway.

Hard to believe, excellent optical quality at low price. Superior mechanical lens structure, precise focus ring. Aperture ring allows accuracy of exposure, color reproduction almost without chromatic aberration. Optimal results at Aperture 5.6. This is one of the best lenses in its class. The lens appropriate only for professional photographers with experience at manually Photography. Pleasure to work with.!

I have used this lens in the field only once. I shot cityscapes and the like. Manuel focus was not an issue as infinity appears to be 10 feet. I set the aperture on or around infinity and ALL of the shots were in sharp focus from side to side, corner to corner. I use a full frame camera

This is the best wide angle lens that I have found for my a7r. It is very sharp and produces minimal distortion for a lens this wide. I have been very happy with this combination.

The build quality of this lens really impressed me, I was expecting it to have a much more cheap feel but it does not. You can tell just by holding it and looking at it that it's built well. My first few test shots with it shows that it delivers sharp images even wide open, colors are nice also. I haven't found any flaws with it yet.

Was looking around for a modest cost lens to perform night-sky photography with, and came across reviews for the Samyang/Rokinon lens. And, next thing I knew, received this as a birthday gift! This lens is fully manual, no AutoFocus, no electronic aperture control, but for the stated purpose, that isn't necessary. Using a Canon 40D, and Helicon Remote on my smartphone, I was able to take the best night-sky photos I have ever tried on the first night I had the lens. And, this is in the middle of the East Bay in San Francisco, with no good dark area to shoot from. Stars at the edge of the frame are not distorted at f2.8. Also took some close up photos of model railroad layouts, and compared with similar shots taken with stock wide angle zoom lens (with AF/AE control). The photos with the lens are much crisper and simply pop compared with (perfectly adequate) quality of the 18mm-55mm zoom.
