This mic is perfect for recording directly to computers, be they mac or windows systems. With the right, separately available adapters, you can also record with Android and iOS devices.

Don't want to use a computer or a mobile device? Not a problem: the built-in recorder can hold up to 12 hours of wav files. This feature, combined with the rechargeable battery, allows for versatile and mobile operation.

The Tula features controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and microphone gain—putting you in charge of every level of the recording process. Also on hand are controls for the built-in recorder as well as a button for the built-in noise-reduction. Literally everything you need to control is intuitively built into the microphone itself, so you don't have to fiddle with any software operations.

Choose Cardioid if it's just you speaking in an untreated room: cardioid polar patterns are a great natural defense against picking up unwanted room tone. If you're recording more people, or want a more honest, true-to-life sound, choose the omnidirectional polar pattern, which picks up audio equally all around the capsule.

The mic has an integrated headphone jack with an independent gain control for latency-free monitoring. Simply plug your headphones into the mic's 3.5mm input, and you'll hear your broadcast-quality audio in all its glory.

The mic records audio at 16-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for media playback. On the audio side, the two-capsule design ensures that whatever mode you choose, the mic will pick up a clear and present sound.

The Tula Mic can also be switched to 44.1 kHz for use with Akai MPC Series devices.

The Tula Mic is brought to you by the team behind the world-renowned Soyuz Microphones. Like Soyuz mics, the Tula features an open top end that's never harsh, a pleasant midrange, and a low end that's full without being boomy. Featuring Burr Brown op amps and dedicated cardioid and omni capsules, the Tula provides professional-quality audio in a wide variety of situations.

Just plug the Tula into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, select it as a device in your recording software, and you're ready to get to work. Or, hit the Record button on the side of the mic, and start recording without an external device. The mic runs either off buss power or built-in battery power: the choice is yours.

The Tula ships with an integrated stand for easy placement, but you can remove it if need be and attach the mic to any threaded stand with the commensurate connections.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the deadcat go over the foam windscreen? Otherwise the deadcat just falls off.

A: Yes, the deadcat style windjammer is intended to be used together with the foam windscreen.

Q: 2. can you use this with your cell phone?

A: No unless you have a audio interface/mixer connected to the phone that has a battery to provide the microphone with Phantom power (48v) otherwise this microphone will not work straight into a phone. The link bellow has a Saramonic audio mixer that will allow you to connect this microphone into your phone. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301929-REG/saramonic_smartrigp_2_channel_mic_instrument_interface.html

Q: 3. why would you choose the short version over regular?

A: A short shotgun microphone is good for use with compact cameras and often preferred for run-and-gun setups. A short shotgun microphone can pickup audio from several feet away and longer mics have the ability to pickup audio from a further distance. So if you were recording sounds that are further away, you would want to use the longer microphone.

Q: 4. Only works with Phantom Power?

A: Yes, the Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Shotgun Microphone operates using phantom power only.

Q: 5. I bought this mic as my first boom, but I need a boom pole and all the reviews I read complain about poor quality. Can you rec a solid boom pole and boom pole holder for studio use that is moderately priced?

A: There are numerous boompoles that are good quality and compatible for use with the Deity S-Mic 2S such as the On-Stage MBP7000 Microphone Boom Pole (B&H # ONMBP7000), Rode Boompole (B&H # ROBP), Rode Mini Boompole Compact Microphone Boom Pole (B&H # ROMBP), K-Tek KIP Graphite Interview Boompole (B&H # KTKIP), K-Tek KE-69 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (B&H # KTKE69), K-Tek KE-89 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (B&H # KTKE89), or the Cavision SGP525F 5-Section Mixed Fiber Boom Pole with Fixed Top (B&H # CASGP525) are all good options. For a boompole holder, you could use the Auray Boom Pole Holder ((B&H # AUBPH) with a grip head like the Impact Grip Head for Lights and Accessories - 2.5" Diameter (B&H # IMKCP200).

Q: 6. Would the Rycote 18cm not be too large for this mic? Just wondering whether the 12cm Rycote wouldn't be a better fit for a mic that has a length of 148mm?

A: Yes. The 12cm would be a better fit.

Q: 7. Can anyone recommend a shockmount and windscreen for this microphone?

A: An excellent kit that provides a shock mount and outdoor windscreen would be the Rycote 18cm Standard Hole Classic-Softie with Lyre Mount & Pistol-Grip Kit, BH #RYSPGK18M. Another good option would be the Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shockmount for Camera Shoes and Boompoles, BH #AUDUSM1, combined with the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Short Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics (Extra-Large, Black), BH #BUBBIWKSXL. Both of these choices would work well with the Diety S-Mi C2S.

Q: 8. will this mic fit perfectly in the XLR handle for the Sony FX30? not loose? just right?

A: The Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone will not fit perfectly inside the Sony FX30 camera bracket, a spacer will be required, we recommend this item: Auray Rubber Spacer Sleeve for XLR Shotgun Microphones on Camcorders B&H # AURSSMCAM45 MFR # RSSM-CAM45

Q: 9. If using as a boom mic, is there a suggested receiver to pair it with?

A: If attempting to use this mic as a wireless shotgun, you would need wireless system with a plug on transmitter that provides phantom power to power the mic. Here's a recommendation, BH #SOUWPD2614.

Q: 10. I'm looking at the Cloudlifter CL-1, CL-2 (2-channel), the CL-4 (4-channel 1-up rackmount) and this CL-Z. I understand the value of a switchable high-pass filter (removing low-end rumble, etc.), but I don't understand the value of variable impedance, especially since the CL-Z appears to add a potentiometer to the signal path. Does the "knob" allow you to "tune" the mic to what sounds best to you? What are the physics behind the "Z"? Thanks for your help!

A: Each mic will have it's own resistance rating that will sound best. By being able to adjust it you can fine tune the Cloud Lifter to sound as best as it can with each mic, instead of a one size fits all option. You can also use it creatively to create sounds the mic normally would not be able to do.
