Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter cause vignette with 16 mm lens?

A: No.

Q: 2. will this fit and work with the Leica Type 109 with self closing lens cap?

A: I've seen one person over on dpreview report being able to use a thin ring filter with the 109's twin sister, the LX-100 when using the auto cap. Panasonic says filters cannot be used with it. Quite a few have reported it causes the lens to jam as it retracts when powered off. I've read of at least one person saying it caused damage to the zoom, so I wouldn't try it. The auto cover is kind of gimmicky anyway. Many who have it say it still lets in some dust and debris though the slits. I've had multiple cameras for forty years and never lost a removable cap. If that's a concern, buy an extra one. I don't use those retaining strings either. Invariably, it will dangle in front of the lens on that once in a lifetime shot! As for the filter, no complaints whatsoever. Like all the German filters I've used, they're worth every penny. It fits my LX-100 and there are no problems using it with the standard cap when powering off. However, I always power off first, then put the cap on, which you can't do with the auto cap, because that defeats its purpose.

Q: 3. Does the new Canon E-82 II 82mm Lens Cap fit with this filter?

A: Yes it does. And it stays on. The outside threads on the filter grip the lens cap -- same as if you put the lens cap on the lens without the filter.

Q: 4. Hi, does this filter take away from the IQ quality, or loss of light, degradation of image QDo I have take it off indoors, or when lighting is lowI need it just to protect the lensis there any downside using the lens filterscan you recommend me better lens filter doesn't loss of image Q Will this Filter work on canon17-55 f2.8mm lensthanks

A: B+W brand of filters happen to be of the highest quality filter manufacturers you could select to put on your lenses. This filter is a multi-coated filter which means the it has been treated with special optical coatings to improve light transmission, color accuracy and contrast. When using multi-coated filters like this there is not any loss/degradation of image quality. This filter will compliment the best lenses you could mount them on and will offer protection in any situation. There is no need to remove them when shooting indoors or in poor lighting as they do not decrease the light transmission (rather they help maintain the transmission as mentioned prior). This filter is the proper size for the Canon 17-55mm f2.8 lens and is one I commonly recommend for use with it.

Q: 5. Can you use this filter with the Leica Q lens hood?

A: Yes

Q: 6. What is the thread pitch on this lens? Is it 0.5 or 0.75 mm?

A: As per the manufacturer, the thread pitch for the B+W 40.5mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC Nano 010M Filter is 0.75mm.

Q: 7. The description mentions that it has a thin ring . Others have mentioned that a thin ring prevents the use of a normal lense cap . Also that thin ring prevents the use of another filter to be attached to the front of the UV filter . Does B&W make 72mm filter that addresses these issues ?

A: I have not had any issues with a lens cap with this UV filter in place. The filter works beautifully. As for attaching other filters, I rarely attach other filters but this UV filter does have threading to allow attachment of additional filters. You could also remove this filter pretty easily and attach another filter as needed. Hope that helps..

Q: 8. I notice the disclaimer in the Overview section that his filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size, and because of this you may be unable to attach the lens manufacturer's bayonet-mounted lens hood to the lens while using this filter. Will this filter fit on Nikon 24-120 f/4 lens with the lens hood?

A: Yes, the HB-53 lens hood that comes with the 24-120 f/4 Is a bayonet mount that doesn't have any thing to do with the filter thread. It attaches to the lens.

Q: 9. When I use this filter on Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens can I install, remove and reverse Canon hood without removing the filter?I had Nano filter on 18-55 mm lens, and I had to remover the Nano filter each time I wanted to remove the hood or reverse the hood. Filter's edge was made thicker in order to compensate the thinness of the lens casing.

A: i used 3 nano filters of various dimensions. None of them interfered with the hood of the lens. i am using 67mm for my 35 F2 IS and for 100mm macro L. i am not having any issues with respect to hood installation.

Q: 10. Can I use this filter on the Nikkor 105 WITH the lens hood?

A: 105 can be only with 62 filter.
