i was offered a generic charger and opted (of course) for the manufacturer's charger and it is excellent. works in other countries with a standard uk/europe/etc adapter. 5

I lost my original charger somewhere in the depths of my basement and needed a replacement. This same model charger came with my Canon 5D MK II and works perfectly. There isn't a lot to expand on other than it has a few blinking lights to indicate the charge status and the plug conveniently retracts into the back of the charger case. The charger functions as I would expect it and performs flawlessly. I would guess you may be looking to purchase this same charger if you happened to have lost yours just like I did, or maybe you have tons of batteries that you need to charge simultaneously. In any case, this charger is exactly like the one that shipped with my camera and works fine. 5

If you use the battery grip, you may as well spring for an extra charger. You'll be charging at least 4 batteries anyway. May as well make your life easier. Do not buy some knockoff charger and ruin your good Canon batteries! 5

Can't run the camera without one. It works just like it's supposed to. Sure I wish it was a bit cheaper especially since it is a product that has been produced in bulk to work with several cameras. I wish it would accept 2 batteries at a time for charging and that it offered battery refresh but it doesn't so you need at least 1 backup for the 1 that comes with the camera. It has never failed me. 5
