$345.00 $527.85

The Base Plate from Really Right Stuff is custom designed for the Hasselblad X2D and precision machined from solid blocks of 6061-T6 aluminum. Fully compatible with 1.5" RRS dovetail standard, the plates feature precisely contoured anti-twist flanges for a perfect fit that prevents twisting between the camera and our plate. The quick-release plates utilize a custom machined 1/4"-20 threaded, captive-style mounting screw that threads into the tripod mounting socket of your camera body. It features two dovetail mounting surfaces in the shape of an L: one on the bottom of your camera and one on the left-hand side. This additional mounting option allows you to quickly change between landscape and portrait orientations while minimizing the need to recompose your shot, saving you time and hassle.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do you still have access to the USB/Memory card slots? I want to be able to shoot tethered without having to remove pieces.

A: The Really Right Stuff Modular L-Plate Set for Hasselblad X2D has has a modular design. This means the L-Component can be adjusted or completely removed if you don't need it for specific shoot. The L-Component dos have an opening that should allow you to access those side ports for tethering.

Q: 2. Does this base plate have a QD socket?

A: Yes. If you look on the images, the QD socket is the larger unthreaded hole next to the 1/4"-20 mounting screw.

Q: 3. is this compatible with arca swiss heads?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff Modular L-Plate Set for Hasselblad X2D is compatible with Arca Swiss heads in the Classic Arca clamp. Unfortunately, it is not compatible in the Arca Swiss MonoballFix clamp.

Q: 4. Will this plate fit correctly on a Nikon D-810?

A: The D810 is not identical in size to the D850, so the Really Right Stuff Base Plate for Nikon D850 would not fit perfectly on the D810,

A: No. This is for the EOS R. They have specific plates for the R5/R6 here: https://bhpho.to/2T8XHjW

Q: 6. I've never used a base plate. What is the main reason to use one? Are they intended to stay on the camera permanently or only when using a tripod? Thanks!

A: Base plates provide a moderate level of scuff/ding protection on the bottom of the camera are intended to stay on for as long as you need. They also provide a more robust built-in quick release system for arca-swiss type tripods, as opposed to smaller quick-release plates you'd install that might not hold tight and/or loosen over time.

Q: 7. Will the base allow the LCD screen to swing downward to its full extent when it is not mounted on a tripod?

A: This base plate allows the screen to open up almost 75% to its full extent. See the second to last product image on the B&H website here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1529140-REG/really_right_stuff_bxpro3_base_fuji_pro3_base.html.

This device is so much better than having a tripod plate mounted all the time, which is how I've typically worked. It both looks and feels right, and adds a negligible mass to the SL2-S.

It also appears to give me a more reliable grip in my ARCA-style tripod heads. Having confidence in the mount is, obviously, critical.

The way the hex wrench is held in place by a magnet is rather cool, though since installing the thing I've not felt the need to take it off.

This is a lovely piece of machined metal that gives you protection as well as added gripping for your camera! No need for a $1000 dollar battery grip when all you need is this RRS base plate! Just carry and extra battery with you! TADA!! PS: It adds a nice flare to your camera too in my opinion!!

Fits perfectly on my SL2! Even makes the camera feel better when hand holding. RRS products are innovative and extremely well made. This base plate is no exception.

RRS plates have become the standard because they are consistently well designed and manufactured. This one fits great, battery slides out no problem and it is solid in an RRS arca clamp. I use it with the L piece to shoot a lot of studio/product and the L is solid too. I don't understand why it's (currently) cheaper to buy the two components separately than together; $210 vs $220, but whatever, worth it at either price. Only wish it had onboard hex key storage, but there's just no room, not RRS's fault.

It's works but kinda overpriced. I've used similar bottom plates from other manufacturers for other cameras that's cost 1/4 of RRS and works as well. Unfortunately RRS is the only maker of bottom plate for the SL2 so... no choice.

I often hesitate a second before buying a product from RRS because they are quite expensive. But; I always end up buying from them because their products are the best! They have a superbly fit and last a lifetime. When I change gear, my RRS plates can be sold with the camera because the plates take all beating they get without problems.
Some manufacturers are seemingly cheaper, but you may end up buying something inferior before buying the RRS anyway. Just get the real thing from the start.
Great product!

I have used Really Right Stuff brackets on all of my camera bodies for years now and they are awesome. The manufacturing tolerances ensure a perfect fit to both the camera and the various camera mounts that I use. The installation also takes seconds and they ship all the tools you need to complete the task. I will continue to use them.
