Capture dreamy images with the Black Diffusion Cinematic Effect Filter from Neewer, compatible with lenses with 52mm filter threads. This 1/2 density filter softens hard edges and provides a smoothing effect by reducing contrast and the overall value of highlights. Constructed with optical glass and an aluminum frame, it has 30 layers of nano multicoating for an anti-oil, anti-scratch, and water-repellent surface that can keep your lens safe. In addition, it is slim enough at 3.3mm thickness to prevent vignetting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work in a Canon 300mm 2.8 IS first version?

A: For 300 f2.8 IS first version you will need Canon 2585A001 52mm Circular Polarizing Filter (Rear Drop-in) BH #CACPDI52 • MFR #2585A001

Q: 2. Can you still put the lens hood on?

A: No. The typical Nikon lens hood will not fit onto the lens with the lens rim in place. However the lens rim does offer great protection for the longer lens that tends to whack hard objects while I climb to the upper deck of a whale watch boat. Also the lens rim will still accommodate a filter, like a circular polarizer, providing quick easy access to adjust the filter.

Q: 3. Does this filter work with the older 2.8 version of the 300mm lens, i.e. version I ???

A: I don't think that this filter will work with the older 300 lens. I tried to see about getting a filter that would work, but could not, so I am doing with what I have -- an older filter that came with the lens.

Q: 4. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1.Canon 2585A001 52mm Circular Polarizing Filter (Rear Drop-in)AND2.Canon PL-C 52WII 52mm Drop-In Circular Polarizing FilterOTHER THAN THEIR PRICES?

A: I asked the same question and was told that the WII is for a version 2 of the lens... I ordered the 2585A001 to fit my 300mm 2.8 Version 1 and it works great, the only difficult thing with this polariser for the 300mm 2.8 i is that when the lens it attached to my 7D mark 2 there is not very much space to fit you finger in to roll the adjustment wheel as the nose of the flash mount is right in the way, in fact to remove the polariser you have to remove the lens from the camera body....if you use a teleconverter this is no problem at all. Also the colour of the lens coating in older lens is slightly different in the newer L lenses. I don't know if the WII would fit every lens

Q: 5. What is the light transmission of this?

A: Sigma does not have any published specifications for light transmission of this CPL (which I believe is typical because most CPLs have filter factors in a range) but does advertise a 30% increased transmission over their competitors' CPLs. This filter does have a 0.3-0.5 stop reduction of light, which equates to a theoretical numerical transmission of 81.2% (at 0.3 stops) to 70.7% (at 0.5 stops), the formula being 100% multiplied by half to the power of 0.3 and 0.5.

Q: 6. Does this come complete with the filter holder or do I need to buy a holder separately.

A: This drop-in circular polarizer will come with a filter holder. You do not need to buy another one, unless you have other 52mm filters that you would like to use, and would like to be able to switch them out as quickly as possible.

Q: 7. wil this fit the 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD?

A: Yes, this will work with the Tarmon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD Lens.

Q: 8. Does this exact lens need 'to 'pop-out' to be used. Is it a true 'pancake lens'?

A: Yes, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 (SE) Lens has an internal focusing design.

Q: 9. Will they fit the Sigma 18-35(72mm) Art lens?

A: excellent..I still using it and all my cameras have it!!

Q: 10. I have 2 lenses with 55mm threads. Is there any option to get these to work?

A: No, they will not without much modification

I've used Tiffen filters in the past and have had such good luck with them that I wouldn't use any others when it came time to outfit my new lens. I really use the polarizing filters a lot outdoors to bring out the blue sky and make others look more natural. The only thing I can find that might be a problem is when the polarizing filter is screwed on the skylight filter. Sometimes it's hard to separate them when it comes time to remove the polarizing filter. otherwise it works great.

I use this filter on my wide angle lens. It really help with the color. I also use it to protect my lens. I had a cheaper quality filter break and almost damaged my expensive lens. This lens out performs all the others in the same field.

I took my filter to the beach and boy what a difference it made in my shots. When I adjusted it correctly I could see all the coral under the water and the aqua colors really came out in the ocean.

I use polarizing filters for outdoor photography to accentuate clouds and sky color. I also use them for archival photography at a small museum, to take pictures of objects on shelves to reduce reflection in the glass. I bought three different size polarizing filters, 52 mm, 55 mm, and 67 mm, for three different cameras, so my review is the same for all three filters. Also, I have always been satisfied with the quality of Tiffen filters.
